Novice Chasers 2015/16

Which would put him in the opening day handicap with around 11st. That would look appealing but the owner already has/had the favourite for that in Minella Foru so is MR likely to go there too ?.

He's also prominently quoted for the 4 miler but 143 would surely be too appealing to pass over in favor of a level weights event.

I doubt JP would be averse to sending both to the handicap.

McManus has had a lot of beaten favourites/shorties in the 3m Handicap Chase on the Tuesday - the plunge horses are for treating with caution, imo.

Those horses were both G1 winning hurdlers though Ardross.

MR been strongly supported already and is a sea of blue and as short as 8/1 on OC (biggest 12/1) and looking more deeply, while his profile looks appealing on the face of it he won't be for me at that price given he's a maiden over fences, has jumped badly both times he's been to Cheltenham and looked in danger of being outpaced at Ascot.

And then there were You'll Never walk alone and Wichita Lineman ...

Sunnyhillboy, Quantitativeasing, L'Ami and Alfie Sherrin all beaten faves inside last ten years, and Pendra beaten 3rd fave last year.

I guess they key is not to find yourself in the poorhouse, before one of them eventually consents to justify its starting-price.

Minella Rocco would be very possible for the race I suppose - it was the route followed by Holywell as a novice too .

Minella Rocco a sea of blue for the Festival Handicap Chase on day 1 of the Festival.PPhave cut him from 14/1 into 8/1.

Rocco not entered in 3m chase on the Tuesday....declared target is NH Chase.

Presumably there will be a sea of red-faces amongst the plungers.

They are published on Thursday

Incidentally tomorrow is a scratching stage for the novice chases.

I would defer to you on such technical matters, DG, but I don't think any of the handicaps have a supplementary stage.

Minella Rocco to go the 4 miler on the basis that one needs a very good jumper for a novice for the Ritz Club Chase as it used to be known

Black Hercules has just sparked up another cigar. Whilst hoping Ruby doesn't jump off at the last.

Frank Berry saying there is every chance More of That may still run in the JLT

Doubt it. If Jonjo had his way he'd be running in the Gold Cup but connections over ruled him. JP was fairly anxious for RSA.

FWIW, I reckon both Native River (whom I'd much prefer to see go for the RSA) and Vicente are a good 10lbs better than their ratings. The only one I think that can get close to them is Shaneshill, should he run here. Obviously plenty will have scope for improvement, eg Noble Endeavor, but that improvement will have to be massive if my figures for the top two are right. They already have ORs in advance of any of the winners of the last 10 years.

JLT: AP thinks More of That will win. Solid jumper. Bombproof he says! #CheltMental

Ya but he also said at that preview that Seeyouatmidnight was a good ew price for RSA but MOT still wins if he runs.

That was followed by Ruby who said MOT was 2nd best novice chaser in training to Douvan.
