Novice Chasers 2019/20

Would like to see some more opinions on the race.

As of right now Itchy Feet is 6.0-6.2 on the exchange and everything else is double figures because of running plans etc. Itchy Feet is rated 150 so in theory Saint Sonnet has 5lbs to find. Now we all know rating for novices are a bit pointless but he is not in the 50/1 range on ability. The trainer has alluded that he is an intended runner provided he wins on Tuesday and we get to see him in action, as those the market!

He has far too much going for him to be 33/1+ right now.

It's a very ground orientated race at present.
Soft and Fakir heads to the Arkle and I think Alloho would run here. He'd be very hard to beat.

Itchy Feet and Mister Fisher are solid but beatable. I suspect both ability wise are closer to Terrefort or Benatar than Defi

Mullins has nothing if Allaho goes for the longer race so yes there is room for a sleeper.

Thought you'd be stronger on Mister Fisher, Euro? I thought he was best of the British chances myself

Soft ground is very short on the Tuesday. I give Fakir almost no chance of running in the Marsh and Allaho goes for the RSA. This is why Itchy Feet is short, he is the the only one that is running.

I was taken with Mister Fisher in Dec, he quickened really well think the time was 3 seconds faster than the Caspian Caviar.
Silly not to invest in Saint Sonnet though.

Basically Itchy Feet, Master Fisher, Copperhead and Samcro are the front of the market.

Have taken 50/1 Saint Sonnet for the Marsh Chase. Runs in the 3.10 Fontwell on Tuesday. Currently rated 145 after winning 4/8 chases in France. Would be a real interesting runner for the festival given how shallow the novice chasers pool looks this year. Not hard to see him win well on Tuesday and end up single figures on the day.

Surely it can't afford to go up from 145 or it won't be able to run in the Marsh?

I do like Mister Fisher, but Not convinced on itchy feet, Copperhead head goes RSA or NHC, Samcro don't care, Faugheen don't care. It's so fuckin weak.

F**k it, I'm in on Saint Sonnet. Just took 40/1

What about Simply the Betts? If Imperial Aura were to win the Northern Trust (f**kin hate all these race name changes) and Frank that form, he could be a live chance bin a weak renewal....

Got mixed up with Copperhead. Jesus what an absolutely **** race.

Itchy Feet is a funny one. The Scilly Isles fell apart, Midnight Shadow is a good jumper who just doesn't see his races out. On the other hand he ran really well in the Supreme.

Still think Alloho could run here if the ground is soft. You could have a scenario where Champ, Minella, Champagne Classic and Copperhead go for the RSA. Mullins MO of going for the easier race could then come into play.

Always the same. As soon as you get used to the name of every race they change 10 of them. "The Jewson" was both the 145 novice handicap and the 2m 4f novice chase. Now it's nothing.

Apparently the 'Close Brothers' is now the Mares Hurdle too.

Fannies.

My view of the novice chasers so far:

Arkle: I have developed a (likely disastrous) affinity with Rogue Vif, and I don’t know why. I think the race is more open than the market suggests - which usually means the front-three in the betting will fill the places - but I do think there’s the potential for a bit of a shock, and I like RV’s unfussy attitude.

Marsh: Conversely, I think Itchy Feet and Alloha will have it to themselves, given Faugheen seems unlikely to take his chance. This pair are almost certainly the best on either side of the water. Marginal preference for IF due to track form, but will almost certainly take a swing at the forecast on the day.

RSA/NH Chase: Two divisions of the same race to all practical intents, and neither make any ante-post appeal. I’m respectful but also wary of Champ, but I can’t really get jazzed about many of them. Maybe Copperhead is the one I’d row in with, if forced to bet in either race.

Edit: On reflection, it’s not much of a f*cking view, is it? :D

Maybe......would probably self select for me if going there, if that was the case, and I’d be even stronger on Itchy Feet in the Marsh.

Assume Alloha would stay in the RSA?

Edit: Hmmn. He looks a potentially iffy stayer at the RSA trip.

Seems very unclear but 8.0 to lay in the RSA and 10.0 in the Marsh Novice Chase so looks like favouring it rather than being conclusive.
