Novice Chasers 2019/20

Windsor Avenue very impressive at Sedgefield today. You could tell from Ellisons interview afterwards that he has high hopes for him.

I am slightly biased towards liking this horse as he beat my BBB in a bumper very impressively in horrible ground, and then couldn't understand the campaign he had...... but glad he has had a good start. Have a lot of time for Brian Ellison as well - through a very long story about a horse a few years ago which won't bore you with.

What a cracking race that was at Carlisle.

Real pity that Good Boy Bobby couldn't hold on but full credit to the front two.

That looked like a savage race. Pretty special for so early in the season.

Good Boy Bobby jumped brilliantly. Brewinupastorm wasn't fluent but he's clearly got gears - 2m4 would seem ideal for him.

Nice 3m novice chase tomorrow at Cheltenham.
Wholsetone the favourite but his jumping was iffy in a two horse race, quite obviously going to his left last time out.

One I’m keen on seeing is Aye Aye Charli. I’m absolutely certain this horse needs fences, often flattered to deceive, but I’m genuinely convinced a big fence will bring the best out of him. One I’ll be watching with interest rather than placing cash on, but a race I look forward to.

Getaway Trump v Al Dancer too. Wouldn't be the biggest fan of starting your 2m chasing career around there. PFN's aren't running particularly well at the moment so would expect Al Dancer to prevail tomorrow but I'd expect Trump to develop into the better chaser in time.

Not a shame for me [emoji41]

Agree it was a cracking race though. Thought the winner jumped a bit stickily early on and may have just outstayed GBB in the end. Will surely need further before long maybe even 3m

The mistake five out should have seen him out of the race. Good effort to win and a 3m in time. Looked high class

Won well by all accounts.Problem I have is that I also like Dallas Des Pictons & the RSA would seem likely to suit both. Both are Giggi owned so are they likely to be targeted at the same race?

If both good enough they could meet in March.

Would think BOD is the better of the 2

Notebook would be one who's probably under the radar. Beat a good rival on debut with a degree of comfort who has just come out and hacked up against some fair horses.

I was reluctant to get too involved in early ante post betting this year but as Elliott had already made it clear (as can be) that the NH Chase is Champagne Classic’s long term target I’ve just taken the 16/1 after today’s performance. Cut most places but not all.

Just needs to stay sound.

Giggi aren't fans of the race though, which would put me off big time.

They always have one or two in the race though, typically including one highly prominent in the betting. He’d have run in it last year according to Elliott but for picking up the injury.

They're talking about the Drinmore for Champagne Classic so down in distance rather than up. Not impossible that he ends up in the NH Chase but not a given until Eddie O'Leary pronounces judgement.

Impressive again from Nube Negra. Doesn't look to be beating much, but you couldn't complain at how he's doing it. Fantastic 2 out.

Watched the re-run last night and agreed he jumped beautifully. His next target appears to be the Henry VIII at Sandown, so the Skelton’s clearly rate him

I was impressed by Lisnagar Oscar at Chepstow and am sure he’d have won if jumping the last cleaner. I’ll take him to beat Black Op at Stratford this afternoon

I'm backing Black Op his form in nov chases against Topofthegame, Lostintranslation & Defi Du Seuil looks the stronger form and Black Op is the value at the odds - Good luck!

I've no financial involvement in the race so hope you're right but the only horses to beat Black Op over fences last season were Defi Du Seuil, Topofthegame and LostIntranslation so, while he admittedly didn't look the most natural over fences, it may have been a touch hasty to revert him back to hurdles.

The George horses seem to be taking a while to come to themselves (this one has had a wind op too), unlike Curtis's but as I expect Lisnegar Oscar to want further than this in time the 9/4 about Black Op over his ideal trip is fair IMO.
