Novice Hurdlers 2012-13

I thought he was a good thing last time but hadn't banked on Mullins unearthing a monster. Fingers burned on that and he took a nasty looking fall so I'd be careful backing him this time.

Hope McCoy gives Colbert Station a similar ride in the next..
Fingers burnt on Don Cossack - Elliott never one of my "favourite" or lucky trainers

There's only one Aeroplane in national hunt racing and he's black ;)

His highly thought of stable companion Utopie Des Bordes makes her UK debut was 1.99 briefly but has been backed down to 1.49 while you were sleeping.

Only needs to be half as good as she looks to win this and book her ticket to Cheltenham

shes a small horse who may not be suited by large fields and there is a possibilty she is only hurdling becuase she cant run in novice chases as against the possibility she may excell over hurdles she may well win today but i wouldnt get excited over her "festival claims" or take a short price for today

Despite Fitzy (what else would you expect?) trying to suggest she had tons in hand her Festival claims - if there ever were any - looked a lot brighter before the race.

Oh ye of little faith.

Only reason you wouldn't back her is because you weren't up early enough to get the better prices.

You could say she was workmanlike but she never looked like getting beat and more importantly the race was anywhere between 5f and a mile too short for her. I wouldn't be too quick to judge her ability on that but would be more inclined to take her destruction of Fago more seriously who PN regards highly enough to send to to the festival

As the man said he doesn't need to run her in the David Nicholson this year. He's been there and done that when he threw Carol's legacy in at the deep end and she was nearly tailed off.

He's not exactly got a team of novices that he can run in the Neptune so he could keep her in novice company and send her there if the ground indicates stamina will be the name of the game.

Given the longer trip at Sandown next week I'd expect her to show massive improvement on her Donnie run.

She's not exactly green round the lugs and takes her racing well so wherever he intended to send her before she ran at Donnie, I'd say will still be her target if she impresses at Sandown. That still could be the DN knowing how often a good performance has change his mind in the past

yes we could

but that is exactly my point shes a chaser and no doubt a good one but she cannot run in novice chases over here hence an attempt at hurdles so we will no doubt see her in a better light next season whens she goes over fences

Considering she about the size of a rocking horse I doubt if Nicky Henderson has any intentions of ever sending her chasing in the UK. He's certaily not going to next year as he's already stated he'll leave the Mares race at Cheltenham and run her next year.

Most fences at Auteuil are only 3 ft high and although some are bigger and wider than in the UK they are not birch. Some are fake brush others are privet. Most you can brush right through including the two largest fences on the course. That's got to have been a huge help to a small horse like her.

Looks like they intend following in the foosteps of the likes of Chomba Womba with her.

Any horse trying to 'brush through' the Rivieres des Tribunes is very quickly going to find itself short of a limb or two on the landing side.

Otherwise, the point that Auteuil fences are more forgiving than UK fences is generally well made.........though the always-bottomless nature of the ground offsets this in staying chases to an extent.

Henderson said she's tiny and won't be fencing this year.

I have to disagree with Tanlic though (Shock) about her destruction of Fago.... He fell in a heap after going too quick and she stayed on past him. I'd fancy him to beat her over those fences more often than not. Personally I think Nicholls bought the right one.

Any views on Defy Logic?

Hard not to be impressed yesterday albeit against opposition who in the main would be tailed off after a couple of hurdles at the Festival.

Unfortunately, you have the negatives of the hood and how much he would find off the bridle and the mere fact he is owned by JP probably means a string of handicap entries. Add to that for me AP on board would not be a positive and Walsh would be even worse.

Having said that he clearly has plenty of basic ability and there are probably worse 25/1 shots for the Neptune. Strong Promise stands out in the recent pedigree amongst a pretty moderate bunch.

My guess is that Cheltenham had not been in the plans before yesterday and I would say it's more likely they'll keep him for Aintree or Punchestown.
