Novice Hurdlers 2012-13

He chucked his head about a bit from the tv picks but certainly settled better today. His jumping was electric as well.

Massive boost for Far West today. Vasco Du Ronceray ran Irish Saint to 1/2 length

Irish saint was coming off the back of a good battle with Rolling Aces.

Collateral f0rm can be dangerous but it seems to me Far West may be the best novice seen out this season

I think his jumping was the most impressive aspect - you wouldn't expect much better from a Champion Hurdle horse. Does he definitely miss Cheltenaham - initially tried to get on with Paddy Power but missed the 33/1 and then the 20/1.
i've backed him for the county at 12/1 after todays impressive performance. non runner no bet of course.

Rolling Star!! You'll get the hang of these names at some point Fist!
No idea mate where I got star from I was pi$$ed last night but I distinctly remember thinking, whatever you do don't call the horse Rolling Ball again ..............Think I'll apply to Wetherbys for a job passing submitted names... nothing gets past me

Nooooo, you said rolling aces! His name really is Rolling star!

Chronic, was very impressed. Defy Logic is a good horse. However I reckon Mullins will go over fences with her, she's pretty substantial unlike Quevega who is tiny! Watched her win back from last years festival, I forget how small she is!

Stuart Machin made a good point on RUK - Forgotten Voice looks made for the Scottish Champion Hurdle .

Mullins was recently quoted on the subject of Champagne Fever as follows: "his pedigree suggests that he should be going for the Albert Bartlett but at the moment we are leaning towards the Supreme Novices. A lot will depend on the ground....if it gets dry we'll look at the longer race". Leaving aside the obvious question of what happened to the Neptune - the race for which I've backed him - it seems to me that the NRNB price of the horse for the AB is just plain wrong at 12/1. If he runs he must go off at single-figure odds, I'd have thought.

True enough, but I couldn't be confident about a horse if the trainer is hesitating between a 2m race and a 3m race for it.

The Neptune should be his race but it looks the y dont see him nearly in the league of Pont Alexandre Who is in the same ownership and trainer.

Interesting novice at Naas today with improving 'handicapper' beating some useful novices with a degree of ease. With this week in mind just wondering about the Irish novice form. Royal Bond form now doesn't look as good as it did earlier in the year. Don't believe Champagne Fever has run anywhere near his bumper form running over inadequate distances, and both Zuzka and Minsk haven't done a great deal for the form.

Interesting stat coming out of the Festival Preview tonight that the last 51 runners in the Supreme Hurdle who DIDNT run in a novice hurdle on their previous run all lost (My Tent Or Yours eat your heart out:lol:)

Can't see Minsk in the first 2.Also 9/1 about CF winning any race at the festival is a standout for me.

A great and early shout. Followed you in then, all looked lost for a while, but counting the pennies now. Cheers - if we ever meet I will stand you a pint.

A good day for me as well Links, though weirdly my festival now seems to hinge on the x-country race (see that thread). Attending tomorrow but looks impossible from a punting perspective.

Enjoy the remaining three days mate.
