Brown Jack won his first hurdle race at Wolverhampton. He later won Champion Hurdle but was retired from hurdles to concentrate on flat races on the advice of Steve Donoghue with whom he won Queen Alexandra Stakes six times.
Imagine telling JP/ WP Mullins/Nicky/Paul that a Champion Hurdler was too good for hurdles, to keep him on the flat !

Cracking Arc on heavy going as Dalakhani defeated Mubtaker and High Chapparal.
Other Group 1 winners include Westerner, Patavellain , Zee Zee Top , Denebola and American Post.

Zarkava shows her class in Arc. Luckily I got Aga Khan to sign my race card.
False start in Abbaye meant Overdose did not run in re run in the dark.
Marchand d' or won. The striking Naaqoos won Jean Luc Lagardere.

........and I was there to see it, one of only two Arcs I have been to, the other being User Friendly's. Must go next year.

Johnny Murtagh's weight problems began as he could not claim 7 lbs fully off 7 st 7 lbs, putting up 2 lbs overweight. K Fallon claimed 5 lbs at this meeting.

Cocozza won his maiden from future pattern race performers Maniree and Goldplated.
Maarek made his debut in a 1mile 100yd maiden having been bought out of J Gosden's for 2500 Gns.
