Paddy Power Gold Cup 15th Nov

If Nicky were to run Simonsig the ar$e would drop out of the trousers of anyone who backed anything else

Been busy so no idea if he runs or not so best I wait and see

Simonsig isn't declared.

Given the time he's had off - coupled with his steeplechasing inexperience, the weight he was scheduled to carry, and the fact he'd doubtless be looked after on his comeback - he would be one of those I'd be least concerned about, if he ran.

I had a dice-roller on Balleycasey at three-figure odds a week or so ago - pretty-much convinced he'd go to the Durkan - but he did get the entry, and he's now 24 to Back (last price laid 44).

Anyone know if Mullins plans on sending him over?

if champagne goes for john durkan, there is probably a chance that he does but no indication of it as of yet

Radjhani Express look's like a good e/w bet to me.
He ran a solid fifth in this event last season before an excellent third behind Dynaste in the Ryanair after a five month break. He certainly couldn't have had a hard race at Aintree after unseating, (that track doesn't look like his cup of tea), but his record around Cheltenham looks good.
He'll be high up the weights, (joint top-weight infact... if Menorah comes out as expected), but he deserves to carry that weight & 2M4F on decent ground in the Paddy Power isn't exactly like lumping the same weight around Uttoxeter in the Midlands National on bad ground. :)
This looks like his best opportunity to land a big prize as he'll always be prone to bumping into a really class horse at the festival as he did with Dynaste.
His name sounds more like an Indian curry house than a PP winner (although I read it actually is a high speed railway service over in India). However, I won't discriminate on that basis. :)

Henessy is a bigger race so i'd take out Djackadam

Marito is one i'd be very interested in, if he gets an entry

Marito is now with Colin McBratney and is entered in the Open Lightweight's race at the Iveagh Foxhounds P2P on Saturday - likely to be a short price against James, Current Exchange (likely 2nd fav), Theroadtocroker, Nodforms Violet and co.

Can't have Rajdhani Express in any way, marble.

For all that the form of last year's PPGC has generally been upheld, he was well beaten in the last edition, and he runs from a higher-mark this year. Whilst I think he will run an honest race, there are surely much-better handicapped animals in opposition.

Handicapper has taken no chances with Balleycasey (153), but he is now no bigger than 18.5 to Back (though nowt at all on Lay side). Anyone know if this yoke runs?

You need to stop looking Grassy. You are already on the winner.

If he can get him fit that is

Thanks for that IS, have been wondering why a number of horses are absent from the Mullins stable tour.

Sure Reef, Rathvinden, Turnandgo and Suntiep the others I've been wondering about

I think there are some if's-and-but's with Rajdhani Express, if he jumps without mistakes... if he's on a going day, etc... I'm hopeful with a bit of juice in the ground (which will take a bit of sting out of his rivals) he'll be bang there as he was on the home turn last year under getting done for toe..
A similar thing happened in the Ryanair at the business end when he carried a big weight.
I can only try to find a solid e/w bet, unless there's an Exotic Dancer in the field which I can't see at the moment.

McBratney has acquired a couple of ex Mullins/Ricci horses. Sarabad won a beginner's chase for him during the summer beating the Mullins trained Wicklow Gold into second.

I'd imagine he wants to target him at the Foxhunters having come so close to winning it with Carsonstown Boy but pretty sure Marito would be ineligible for 2015's renewal.

Will be there anyway and at Navan on Sunday so hopefully some good racing.

Ballycasey doesn't look entirely well-handicapped off a mark of 155, Granger.

Someone is looking to back him at 16/1 to the tune of a pony, on Betfair. Mildly encouraging, I suppose.

Buywise is #26 so needs not very many to drop away to get a run, assuming he is fit.

I remember thinking after the PJ Moriarity last year Grassy that he was a possible very good horse

That was 21f which is pretty much same trip.

They won't get another Cheltenham prep than this to see how he handles the trip over and course, so would hope that he will travel. He goes out like a light at 3m plus which would indicate that he is a speedier horse.

That PJM run gives me hope that he could take this off 155

Agree. The drop back definitely helps, but he's light on experience in a red-hot race (mitigated in part by the fact he's unexposed as a result), and he's not been done any favours by the OH.

As his mark would suggest, it will need to be a very smart performance indeed, if he is to win.....but it's not entirely beyond him.

He will have to be smart alright and I think he is, would be happy with 16/1 on him. needs to be forgiven his last three runs and a schooling session :) which is asking alot, but that PJM is the memory I have of him

The Novice Handicap that normally provides the winner looked a turd of a renewal to me, it's ridiculous how close Buywise got after pretty much stopping at one point. I'd want to be with one of the classier sorts.
