Paddy Power Gold Cup

Hardly original choice but surely champions court is the one that ticks the boxes here? Barely up from that decent win in April, goes well fresh and certainly likes the course

There may well be some that are underrated by the handicapper at this stage but when they are more or less the same price as this one, I know where I would rather be

in a departure from normal SWC is going to wear a lyrca outfit rather than traditional silks on rahjani express as he believes it will be more aerodynamic than silks blowing around in the wind. A view backed up by a sports specialist from Warwick university

Jim Bolger tried that years ago.....keep up

Been to the NH season preview at the racecourse tonight, Paul Nicholls can't believe the Pipe yard has pulled Dynaste as he thought it was a certainty, says he wouldn't be surprised if they gave the Betfair a miss too and kept him fresh for the KG.

Alice Plunket, who has been to the yard this week, says Martin Keighley thinks he has Champion Court in prime condition for the first time in eighteen months.

Meanwhile in the audience there were a few whispers round the place for Colour Squadron in the PP who is fancied by the Hobbs yard.

I was there too DG, thought the 10/1 about Champion Court was very good, a knocking each way bet.
Did you think Nicholls was jealous/bitter or just a fool when they were talking about Sprinter Sacre?

In what context Darren ? I didn't pick up on anything

He just didn't really give him much praise, said his breathing would play up and mentioned Master Minded more than a couple of times.

Yes I remember him saying SS is the best 2 miler around now just like Master Minded was the day he won the CC, and that the Master Minded that ran that day would have given SS something to think about. He also said SS would get beat one day, purely because they all do.Can't remember why he said SS breathing would play up but it sounded logical at the time. All the panel said SS should stick to 2m and that everyone should just enjoy him whilst he's around.

which is in keeping with everything we have seen of Nicholls character in the last 10 years, no?

What is wrong with any of that?

Hes supposed to spend these forums drooling over other stables horses and dishing out platitudes for the sake of it just to keep some faces straight?

No, but everything in the form-book points to MM being unable to live with The Aeroplane. A simple acknowledgement of this fact would have sufficed.

He refers to the "run on the day". I would agree that the way he travelled and jumped that day and beat a reasonable yardstick that trainer acknowledged, ran to form, fully entitles him to that view

Strict interpretation of form book is a nonsense anyway. he won so easily (as did SS) that hanging hat on a strict weights and measures assessment would be idiotic

"unable to live with" is bollocks in my opinion

I'm with Clive. So what if Nicholls has an 'un-poplular' opinion regarding a rival horse. It would be far worse if he gave Sky Sports everyone is great type answers.

Yes Granger. Spot on. Too many fall for the "jolly nice chap" waffle an. And its hardly as if hes slagging someone off is it? To be fair though, I have nothing against Nicky the needle

Also the difference between their top officical rating is what? About 4lbs? Thats hardly "unable to live with" is it? Wasnt timeform about the same too? But again, point is that neither were maxed out at their best.

Master Minded cuffed VPU.

Sacre cuffed Sizing Europe.

On all know evidence, Sizing Europe would have cuffed VPU if they'd ever met.

QED.

GIRFUY.

absolute rubbish. I find that to be a strangely naive interpretation of form

They both won by such margins that that point is completely irrelevant. If they had beaten those horses by a hard fought length then fair enough but there was any amount in hand

It's the class of horse's they beat which counts......VPU wouldn't see which way SE went in a 2m championship chase
