Royal Ascot 2024

I think I'm losing it but in a good way...My account suddenly took a very big jump in my favour.

I thought something wasn't right earlier today but had forgotten I did a 3 cross on Harry Kelton and found out the last one won so i had a double up.

But then today it jumped by xxx ....I know I had backed Auguste Rodin on Betfair but I was very tired in the early hours here in Thailand and apparently I also backed him on the Sportsbook...........So I got a Hughie Green

Not many of you will remember Hughie but I know Dessie will understand:D

Other bets I have at the moment are Charyn at 8s for the Queen Anne and Wild Tiger for the Hunt Cup at 14s.

With Charyn I can't have this Facteur thing as fav. His form is Meh-dan and soft ground Champions Day. I dislike Inspiral as a horse, I dislike the trainer. Charyn wins.

Wild Tiger was super impressive at Goodwood the other day for a trainer who you've got to respect in this race and he's a Frankel so a step up to a mile should improve him further.

Two horses plunging down the handicap are really eye catching in the Wokingham. Great Ambassador has never run well at the track so I'll be looking for him to finish down the field before a much better run at Goodwood. Fresh has not been off a yard for a while. He'll likely be a big price on the day on the machine hopefully.

Looks a big price in an impossible looking race.

Coeur Dor 5.05 Ascot 12/1
Won 2 big field handicaps in Ireland last season.
Was given a pipe opener over an inadequate 6 furlongs first time out.
No doubt Dermot Weld will have targeted this race and i can't see the 12/1 with bet 365 lasting.

Moot point how much quicker it was at Ascot today, where Auguste Rodin was 1.18s fast for 1m2f, suggesting to me it really wasn't appreciably Firmer.

At the Curragh,off a strong pace, Ryan shot to the front and didn't last home.
He's no mug either,and those who think him such a poor judge of pace is whistling in the wind,imo.
He'll always beat White Birch - when he's ready to.
 
Sadly, Vilanova Queen let me down in the last leg. It wasn't my kind of race, I didn't study the form but the more appealing ones were among the favs, including the winner, but I didn't want to throw them all into the mix in case I was already beat by then (which I was expecting).

VQ travelled well but the jockey gave up the ghost and looked after her when it was obvious she wasn't going to be involved. Might have been on the fast side for her.

Some breeding for the winner, though. Sea The Stars-Treve.
 
I'm half glad Hopeful didn't win that. I had Wild Tiger ap at 14s and Hopeful at 16s. Fully expected to be able to top up at 10s minimum on both today. Prices collapsed.

All I think I mentioned in dispatches so not for the after timing thread for a change. Although I did go wild and pop in Weissmuller in the last each way (just missed the 125-1) because he looked well and I loved Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan...:ROFLMAO:
 
Ryan Moore could be set for another good day.

Whisteljacket looks to be different class to the opposition.

I can't imagine Aiden O'Brien not having Kyprios 110% fit for the Gold Cup but the price and his actual chance don't compute with me
however I have backed him anyway.

There's a good chance Diamond Rain is a good thing and I am having a go BUT:- My old friend Danielle reappears in this
she looked really special before she flopped at Lingfield and John Gosden has given her loads of time to develop

My plan is for talking sake to have 10 points on Diamond Rain around 7/4 and 10 points on Danielle around 14/1
If the fav wins I still show a profit if Danielle wins....drinks are on me 🙏
