Royal Ascot

A very dangerous meeting in my opinion-get behind and start chasing and you are in serious trouble.I'm going to sky plus the meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday and get involved from from Thursday on.
Blessington in the Wokingham is the nap of the week.

Hot Streak today and Astaire in the Jubilee are the two core bets for me in what at present is an unusually limited financial involvement at this meeting.

11/10 about Kingman is a gift from the gods.

He is the best horse in the race by around 5lb.

He has his optimum conditions. Good ground, no jar, little bit of give.

He is an out and out miler. Gosden is firing on all cylinders.

If you don't unload on this beast, there's something wrong with you.

Have fun!

not seeing a problem here at all with Kingman...he's already shown that in a true run race he's capable of throwing an extremely high speed figure as at Newbury

only one winner today..KINGMAN...at evens i'd say the bet of the year

NOT supporters..get your excuses ready;)

Any thoughts on Anodin?

I am desperate to take on Toronado, and would rather back Anodin at 14.5 (his form with Cirrus is top class) than lay the favourite.

Is Colm Keane still having the ride on Capella Sansevero today, would anyone know please?
Or are the new owners jocking him off?

As Jamie Spencer is Qatar Racing's retained rider it is their policy that he rides their horses here in the UK and unfortunately for Colin Keane that is the situation...from Ger Lyons

Love a French beast normally but couldn't have this. Surely massively flattered last time out in steadily run race? Other form looks very average and a long way behind the required standard in my opinion.

Toronado has to be taken on though, odds on is mental and those 3yo milers didn't look all that to me. I've bet Tulius who's a consistent creature and seems to have improved this year, ground drying out a concern but handled it well enough at Newbury. Verrazano will obviously improve and couldn't put people off taking 9/2 1/4 odds EW obviously but Tulius doesn't deserve to be so much bigger. Other one I backed is Side Glance, likes Ascot and shown glimmers of decent form over the Winter, I'd like Spencer to have him handy mind.

Cheers QZY, that is what I suspected might happen, but was unsure before placing a bet. Thanks for confirming it.

Loved Toronado last year but I dunno, don't trust the trainer to have him ready first time out after such a long absence. Hoping SFR can place.

I don't understand your comments re the 3yo milers, they look a top class bunch to me.

Clearly flattered, agree, but it's as good form as anything else considering the Balding horses are a little old and you wouldn't think have the same scope for improvement.

Lots of holes in Anodin but Head not one for a sporting runner either, and I think Toronado is a desperate price.

I'd almost be tempted by the Ballydoyle yolk - I haven't heard many strong vibes though?

I suspect it could be an old fashioned smash on the show and go off 9/4. Sorely tempted to take 9/2 at lunch.

No real bad EW bet in the race at 1/4 odds to be honest but just wasn't keen on the French raider here.

Kingman may well improve on his Guineas run but much of the reasoning for him beating N of T strikes me as tosh

1 He was not played too soon he hit the front at the furlong pole - he ran second fastest in the final furlong so he was not tying up .

2 Night of Thunder ran the fastest furlong in the race so the idea that Kingman had the speed and was nabbed by a stayer appears to be bollocks

3 Night of Thunder hung across the track - hopefully he won't do that today but it compromised to a degree the winning distance

4 Hughes was clear that he was his intended Guineas mount in the spring but due to his injury he chose the horse that had won the trial rather than been beaten in a trial

5 The Greenham probably means nothing it was a trial

6 Kingman has just had to run in a bog - he won easily but it could have taken the edge off him

The problem for Night of Thunder maybe the lack of pace . That was blamed by Hannon as a reason after the Guineas why he did not run up to his best at Newbury but I cannot see it being a crawl as Toormore needs a proper gallop too .

Kingman may have been below par at Newmarket and the Irish Guineas increased supremacy over Shifting Power may show that or it merely may show Shifting Power is not as good in mud and Kingman thrives in the mud .

On balance I just think that Night of Thunder will confirm the places but I struggle to see how people can be so categorical either way .

just remember Kris ...Ardross;)

The Greenham means a lot re the time of the race..big speed figure.NOT was in that wasn't he?..couldn't live with Kingman..similar today

How can NOT lack the pace?..you said yourself he ran the fastest furlong in the guineas??

i think this "needs a test" is an excuse for afterwards tbh.

Ardross didn't say he'd lack the pace but there will be a lack OF pace in the race.

Really interested to see Hootenanny in the last. Hes a grandson of one of the first 2yos I ever rode, Dance Teacher. She was a lovely horse trained by Charlie Nelson - loved her to bits. She became a G3 & G1 winner in the US. I remember her being put through the stalls for the first time alongside Classic Ruler who had won the Molecomb Stakes - she fell out the first time but she was so intelligent, she had it all figured the next time and she broke a length up on him.
