The King George

Not sure how you tag the youtube videos onto here but Montjeus is pretty special aswel I think.

How long does a horse really need to "rest' for anyway? I can see the point about the ground with AK and would respect trainers judgement but is any flat horse really better for 3 months off course rather than 6 weeks say?

im with dj and hamm here. Six runs in a season say, is surely hardly impossible for a fully grown animal

think there could be a surprise winner of this. i'm unconvinced with CDA over distance and also i think he'd like softer ground.

probably a no bet race for me now. i'd imagine ballydoyle will run ernest hemingway no who could be of slight e/w interest.

Although I'd have sooner backed CDA than SNA I thought the latter was a bigger danger to my selection because you pretty much knew what level of performance you were gonna get.

Not in the King George, Fantastic Light was better at a mile and a quarter I think and got his revenge on Galileo in the Irish Champion, in part due to the shorter trip and a real canny ride.

Not that I'm knocking Montjeu, he really was something special.

Trading Leather looks quite good value at 9-2 as the Irish Derby was run at a proper clip . It would be good to see a 3yo classic winner land the KG again .

the ground will not be perfect for Cirrus
but he is so far ahead of this field that should be shorter

Novellist is the main danger

not a great edition

Indeed. And a line through the unfortunate Thomas Chippendale says Ektihaam is a good five lengths better than that result at Sandown.

I think he's the likeliest winner if for some reason CDA doesn't perform for whatever reason.

Surely CdA hacks up here? Can't believe he's odds against.

He's odds against because he's been injured, and his only run since was hardly breathtaking. Wouldn't be too sure about his needing the run either - he has in the past, but was re-introduced in tinpot races, and not the Grand Prix de St Cloud.
SMS isn't famous for tilting at windmills, so must regard Hillstar quite highly, and if the real CDA doesn't turn up, could well prove better than the mediocre rest..

Does anyone know why Peslier has deserted CDA?

i don't think cirrus will win in a month of sundays either...normally i'd lay him...but it seems Peslier may be pointing us in the right direction..with Very Nice Name..25.0 on betfair at the moment..which is silly when the horse is improving and is already as good as any horse in it bar Cirrus on the ratings...a serious rick imo
