The King George

Peslier is contracted to ride for owner of Very Nice Name, it's not a case of him choosing him over Cirrus des Aigles.

You boys are suckers for these French yokes that aren't good enough. I can't even remember the name of the one ran over in Sandown in the Eclipse.

There has to be more of an angle than simply foreign horse at a big price = bet.

For example, the 20/1 shot that won the Henry II had mental scope for improvement over a trip given her pedigree whereas Very Nice Name has one run at Meydan to recommend him, and that can never be good.

Hanagan's decision to ride Mukhadram at York has been over factored into Ektihaam's price and he's still value. It's not like Paul has sat on that many high class animals to make such a tough decision. He's hardly Steve Cauthen.

Hillstar you're just backing the trainer and for all his Harbinger's and Conduit's SMS has also had his fair share of Ask's and Gamut's.

Paul Hanagan knows the time of day well enough, and the market for both races entirely supports his option.
SMS was 'daft' enough to send a 95 rated horse to contest a gp2 (over the KG c/d, mind), and stump up the 75k supplement for this, where he only has to make first 3 to show a profit.
I'll be surprised if both decisions aren't entirely vindicated.

I think Mukhadram would have been vulnerable in a big field with a couple or three other front runners but lucky for him the York Stakes has cut up badly.

3yo look weak

Hanagan at York for 1 mount for Hamdam says it all

Novellist is a good horse, 122 in my figures , not improving fast , unlikley to hit more than 125

and then the great horse
difficult to know how he is , especially if form ground
but can run a stone behind his best and still win

7/4 looks worth the risk

It all depends on Cirrus - if he is back to form and it rains he will be exceptionally hard to beat much as I hope that Trading Leather puts in a good effort.

Workforce, Dylan, Dancing, Lamtarra did

Workforce didn't

Dylan actually ran below his Ascot form (Kg and Pow) in winning a poor Arc

Lammtarra had three races and improved everytime. Unusual one off horse.

Dancing Brave was a legend and like Lammtarra a 3yo.

i don't really believe any horse runs below its best and wins an Arc..STS ran an amazing race in the Arc as did DT...ratings wise it may look that way but the Arc is harder to win than any other 12f race...producing massive ratings isn't what its about..in fact its a race where an exceptional paper rating is hard to achieve due to the competetiveness

I can't really see how you can knock todays race tbh...then again you are a half empty glass person;)

Honestly I think it's partly a reflection on the CH4 coverage. Every Group 1 winner is sensational and brilliant and that just wasn't. It was a below average renewal and the handicap quality jockey on the horse I backed set it up for a fast time.

some horses have won the Arc not running to his best

Workforce
Sinndar
Sea The Stars
Dylan Thomas

while most the winners posted their best performance ever

Novelist run a very good race
but there are 5 or 6 horses at least able to beat Bolgers and Hillstar by 5 lengths in a true run race.

just because it was set up for a decent time doesn't mean the winner is capable of producing a large figure though Euro

the winner is smart for sure..we don't really know how good Trading Leather or hillstar yet to be fair

they might have beaten Hillstar on past rating but the horse is improving so until Hillstar runs again we don't really know if anything can beat it that far
