The Road To The Arkle Chase

Don't think too many jockeys other than Geraghty would have got the favourite home. Raced much too freely and jumped indifferently so no surprise he struggled from two out.

Mouse Morris is the master of putting one away at Christmas/early January and bringing them back fresh to run well at Cheltenham..

Worth remembering for the rest of week...

He always runs with the choke out a bit more than it should be and it's not the first time he's missed one out.

Not taking anything away from him but what next? They're talking about the QMCC next year but Nicky surely wouldn't want his two best chasers going for the same races and he wouldn't be within a stone of SS anyway......hope he sends him for the King George if he can get him to settle he'd murder them for speed

Good to see after McCain's comments about Henderson's horses that it was his horse who was soft after a mistake and not Henderson's.

Don't believe they went all that quick for an Arkle?
For mine, Simonsig needs a deal further to jump with any fluency, and stamina wouldn't be problem - but will they ever get him to settle?

The writing was on the wall for Overturn a long time before the mistake took its toll.

in the conditions it might have looked like they haven't gone hard..but Simonsig on rough timings took longer to run from the last fence to the line than the winner of the 3 mile chase...which means they must have gone hard to slow him down that much

bit of anticlimax with simonsig who would have probably won a lot more convincingly if he hadn't pulled hard and was very iffy at his fences. just found no rhythm at all.

maybe just lacks experience but needs to improve on that and learn to settle if he's gonna be a major player in the big races. think lack of runs did come back to bite him in the end but a wins a win.

Nicky think's he's Sir Sir Henry Cecil and Sprinter is Frankel. He'll take some convincing.

I don't know who they were talking to yesterday on Timeform Radio but he said he would definitely want to run Simonsig in next years QMCC. Could end up another Kauto V Denman situation

That would be the race of the decade.
