The "Won't Win" Thread

Well done SW. As usual missed it.

Cheers EC. Great lay. Recovered some of my earlier losses, although I feel a touch disappointed laying at 2.12.

Thanks again.

4.50 Aintree

shuthefrontdoor

layed at 2.02

there isn't much between all of these on hurdles form and the fav will find this sharp track at 20f not a strong enough test

Aintree 2.05 Ely Brown @ 2.3

Mentioned this on the jockey thread. Having backed it at 3.0 , Iv'e traded it back.

It simply looks too short for a jockey with possible concerns and Lovcen particularly looking to step up from last season.

Longsdon used Woods to good effect in the 2011 season but the last two, the influence of his use of claiming jocks is pretty poor: 1/31=3%. Filter that figure down to odds up to 7/2 does not really look great: 1/12. That win was Ely Brown in last years race with Woods claiming 5lb.

Romped in at even shorter odds. The fact it virtually became a flat race and the 10 lb claim, made no difference, as he was vastly superior.

Good call EC, even if it didn't trade short enough.

Wasn't going to bother again but got tempted place only on the winner @ 2.6.

Town Mouse

2.4

Apart from being a little quirky this one is very unlikely to go on the ground...all of Mums kids have favoured faster ground.

You beat me to this one EC.

If I did the filter right, sire's hurdlers on soft over last 5 years less than 7/4:

4/6: 5th
4/7: 2nd
8/15: Fell
6/4: 2nd.
6/4 : Won.

My one slight concern is the official going being correct.

Realt Dubh is paceless an tripless in my opinion-he has also had a few injuries in the past.Lay,lay,lay.

Scoppio de Caro has improved more than the 10lbs required to beat Rudi Five One. Probably another will too.
Therefore a lay of Rudi at 2.78 is in order.

Well done Luke and Lard.

I missed the Eddery runner who hasn't had a winner for a while.

Spot on with Realt Dubh Luke, went around 1.36, but no change of gear.

I was going to put Bouclier from the 1.20 but never got near 2.5.

Hope you made a few quid Icebreaker.
Doubly so, Luke !
The reason is: I'm in a situation where I have a 4-figure sum in a particular bookmaker that is impossible to withdraw via normal methods. ;)
Consequently, while funds are sequestered with that book, Losers are more valuable to me than Winners -- particularly Losers that are at shorty odds.
So, I'm very grateful to yourself and everyone else who have posted up "Won't Win" selections.................. and of course EC1 who started this great thread.
