The "Won't Win" Thread

Wolver 4.40. Heezararity. Win Lay @ 2.3

Spent too much time looking at this race, initially with a few to laying it but changed my mind when weighing up the lack of opposition, then thinking it has to be backed, but really could not commit to anything less than 5/2.

Really need to know why he was so poor last time but happy enough laying at these odds.

Risk another one.

Catt 1.20 ( running late)

Force Family Fun. Win lay @ 1.94.

7lb penalty for beating little and a very short price.

Brave call, EC. I think you're probably right, but not sure I could lay it or oppose it.

We'll find out in 9 minutes.

massive distance at 5f

i think if sweet angelica had got through between them it would have beat both anyway

a horse that price should be winning by a couple to be fair..so i'm happy with that

fine margins this game;)

Warwick. Mountain King . Win Lay @ 2.48

Obviously working well at home but full sister did little and MCCoy on 2nd fav has a 30% + SR for trainer in bumpers.

As usual in these race a few others could improve.

need to get thread back on track i think

12.35 Southwell

Staff Sergeant...2.28

the short betting on this one is the "new yard" syndrome..but the "new yard" don't have much success in sellers...0/23

a false fav imo

I dithered over laying the last fav at Southwell on account of the trip and this Dan Emmett looks short at 2.18.

Trouble is knowing what is in the opposition, but price seems to be based on a poor looking maiden lto and I'm not certain he's a genuine 12f horse.

It would probably make more sense laying around 1.6 in running.

2nd.

Wolver 3.40. jazzy Lady . Lay @ 2.4

Only 4 runners, so again not a great pace but JL's runs over C&D have been slow and taking the risk, the two others can improve.

2nd @ 5/4, even with a dire ride on the 2nd fav.

Armourer in the next was probably even a better lay with the late money bringing it into 2.28, with an inconclusive last run.

Thanks Icebreaker.

Kempton 6.50 Spirit Or Soul . Lay @ 2.38

I looked at the earlier Botti/ Harley fav, but could not find any reason to oppose but I couldn't be backing this one, even if there are few running for me.

early days with the sire, but the owner does not look to send Botti much and the fact he failed to sell for 6k at the sales and he got turned over at Evens on debut.

Assumption is he will improve but the debut run may well have been the "day" in what looked a bad race on paper although the winner of that may go on to better things.

I just feel the price is based on a blind Botti/harley/ flying 2yo basis rather than the horse itself.

Some serious pace in the 7.00 at Kempton, and that could well be the downfall of Grey Mirage (currently 5/4 best). Though he's run some crackers against good opposition, he's yet to prove he can last home when it's served up to him from the start, and there are plenty in here who'll be doing just that.
Mont Ras might be the one to benefit, though his stable's form is hardly encouraging.
