Triumph Hurdle 2012

Give up OTB for God's sake. You're bordering on being as bad as Del Boy and his Kaymer obsession.

I find it insulting that you out me and otb in the same league, and Martin the machine kaymer in the same league as some selling plate hurdler....

From Boylesports....

"The first of the Grade 1s to be staged is the opener on the card (1:05pm), the Spring Juvenile Hurdle. A total of 28 horses have stood their ground at the latest declaration stage, 21 of them being previous winners.
One horse that will miss the race, though, is the Dessie Hughes-trained Minsk, who will instead head to Fairyhouse on 15 February. He won last season’s Irish Cesarewitch from a mark of 93 and is rated as an exciting hurdling prospect"

This is strange, because there is no race on that card for which he is eligible. According to the HRI summary programme the maiden hurdle is for 6yo+ and the novice hurdle is for 5yo+. There's a 4yo maiden hurdle at Gowran on Saturday week though.

Must be the graded race on the 25th they are talking about. They are cutting it fairly fine with him. The address was always going to be an issue.....Connell had plenty of other options.

Stop! Shadow Catcher travelled all over them. Committed too soon and awkward at the last. Completely unexposed, granted all juveniles are, but I would think its the best of the Irish by a long way.

If he's the best we have there's no point travelling. Outside place chance I would say unless Hisabaat has improved about two stone which is unlikely. I thought Hisabaat was a miserable price this morning but the refitting of the blinkers was a sign we should not have ignored or his relative strength in the market. Lynch gave him a great ride too. I would love to see him get the Gigginstown gig.

I give Hisbaat a chance in the Triumph-in an open race he is improving and will love the hill.
I thought Lynch gave him an excellent ride and it will be interesting to see how many outside rides he gets at the festival.

What form lines are we working off here? The fav today who was ran over for whatever reason struggled to beat the Weld horse LTO. That was Shadow Catchers 2nd run. He might need to find 2lbs-4lbs but certainly not 2 stone. He's a horse with a lot of potential and to my eye our best juvenile.

Interesting Slim. I tend to agree with you, thought the Shadow was an eyecatcher. As RTE pointed out, no outstanding 4yo either side of water. Wide open this year. Unless Minsk or something else emerges as a star, it's wide open. Wouldn't discount today's winner. Relatively consistent in terms of general form, obviously benefited from changes ahead of today - could be a touch of the Scolardy about him. You can trust him to be there or thereabouts on the day.
