What are you backing Today? Part 2

A wee bet on King Of War in Brighton's 3.23 tomorrow for me. A former Roger Charlton inmate, who his latest trainer Alexandra Dunn won two races with last year, including a class four here at Brighton.

That was off a mark of 68, whereas he now races off 66 in this class 6 albeit off top weight. King of War's Brighton form figures read 43218 so he knows the place well and this race is well within his grasp. At double figure odds I'll have a go. Typical mid week race though so just hoping for the best.

I fancy Novak in the same race. I thought Stalingrad looked a proper rag last time and wasn't putting it all in.

looks to me like they have run out of ideas for him and are clutching at straws by stepping him up to 7f again in the hope it helps

time will tell. best of luck mate

Unlike me to even look at a midweek card unless it's on TV but outsider's mensh of one there had me looking quickly through the card.

One that caught my eye is Darkness (8.00) as I recall double-checking it last time at Ascot in the Victoria Cup (mainly because it's an O'Meara) so I'd be hopeful it can simply outclass a field that would never get a sniff of a run in a race like the Victoria Cup.

Could be simply a case of dropping it in class to give it a better chance since it will struggle to win anything substantial off its current mark although it was running in Group races in France earlier in its career. Might just outclass this field if it's there to run to its best. 4/1 seems fair enough.

Novak ended up going off at 3/1 from 4/1 and won easily enough.

Had a good word for Khamsin as one to follow but could be up against it with an Appelby/Buick 400k horse in the race

Currently 11.5 on the machine so will back him EW later hopefully around those odds

Very slowly away cost about 3 or 4 lengths.....Beaten under 4 lengths into 4th surely would have gone close with a good break.

SMS runs Desert Crown tonight in a race he's won a dozen times in the past, well prepped according to all reports & although 2/5 may appear stingy, he does look an absolute cerainty.
Backed accordingly.

I'm dutching Island Star and Prince of Zenda in the last. A lot of my trackers out the next few days find themselves up against unexposed wankstains I have no clue about ability wise. Like, the Fav in the race Nathanael Greene runs in at Goodwood on Saturday - wtf?

I fancied Ernie's Valentine the last day but he was bitterly disappointing. It was his first run this season though so I suppose I shouldn't abandon him just yet.

That said, I respect Lyndon B at this track and Nizaaka could run well back in a handicap. But I'll stick with Ernie's as the selection. He's a decent price aswell. His form with Harry Three from last season isn't bad at all and Ernie's may have a big race or two to run this season.

Coincedently, the second horse in the race Ernie ran poorly in last time was Coup De Force. She looks a progressive filly who can land the 3.35 at Bath tomorrow.

The final selection for my patent will have to be Princess Shabnam. She faded towards the finish last time but it was much more like her old self. Hopefully she can come on again from the last day and we know she'll try and make all again tomorrow so I'm hoping to get a good run for my money.

That's my patent.

reet - King of Conquest on Saturday at Goodwood - I am absolutely gagging to take Francisco Clemente on, ridiculous price. You like the Godolphin horse for the race? I actually think El Drama is value formwise but don't like backing Varian in wfa races.

I'm going to take on Euro in the 225g with PURE GOLD 16/1.
Caught my eye at donny when 5th.good,g/s in places which could be a concern if its fast.

It's only seemingly weakness in the market that's holding me back from backing FC like an odds-on shot. Can I ask why you are so against it, Euro?

Simply the price. Same thing with Laurel last Saturday, not doubting the horse has ability but you pay a premium with that stable's horses. We see this later in the card as well the 3.10 - this Courage Mon Ami is stupid short at 5/4 in a field of good handicappers.

El Drama has the best form in 1.50 and I'd argue Nath' Greene is the same in the 3.10 yet neither head the market.

Thanks. I couldn't muster any enthusiasm for Laurel last week but I think FC might be a different proposition altogether. He holds a raft of G1/G2 entries and they're avoiding pitching him into them first time up. They also look to be providing a pacemaker for him.
