What are you backing Today? Part 2

My spirits are good, I'm just annoyed that I got sucked into tracking a frigging Evan Williams horse.

I have looked at that card reet, bored with the slop at the moment. I was contemplating opposing Lord North over the trip but there's no pace in the race. I may back Diligent Harry in the sprint.
Hope you capitalised,Euro.

I’m not really betting much these days but I nearly bet Golden Son in running as his price went out a lot and imo he was cruising. I’m going to start experimenting a bit with having that sort of bet but I doubt if I’ll have a better chance of getting it right than today.

Monmiral ran well today considering the distance, top weight and the going.

Dunno what’s going on with him, Nicholls reckoned he was going to be a top novice chaser, but he’s disappointed. Reverting to hurdles today he ran ok, but didn’t follow through afte having been put in a decent position to challenge. Racing Post wasn’t impressed:

Monmiral, a former winner of the Grade 1 4YO Anniversary Hurdle at Aintree, was reverting to hurdles following a couple of comprehensive defeats over fences. He looked a threat coming to three out, but no sooner had he made ground, he hung markedly left and didn't appear to be helping his rider. His stamina seemed to run out on the run-in.

I watched the race via the bookie's stream which showed the in-running prices. I couldn't believe the in-running price relative to how it was travelling. To me it was always going better than the favourite which hit 1/2 in running. It did go to 4/1 at one point before going out a bit again and then I stopped looking and started watching the race itself more intently.

Will be interesting to see what they do with him.now qualified for the pertemps so he didn't want/need to win today.
And he was giving lumps of weight away and on heavy going.
And he hung right not left.
Would be nice if it got dropped a couple of pounds.

I saw your post and thought I'd have a look at his career form.

He's only ever won over 2m, hasn't he? This has the look of one who might benefit from a return to the minmum distance. Never mind the Pertemps, if they dropped him back to 2m I'd be on like a shot.

Nicholls said pre-season - “I had high hopes he would develop into one of our leading novice chasers last season, but things didn’t quite turn out as anticipated. However, if there’s a better maiden over fences anywhere in Britain or Ireland, I’d like to know who it is.

Last season he reverted to hurdles at Aintree to protect his maiden status, having not disgraced himself behind THE REAL WHACKER, JONBON and GERRI COLOMBE which were pretty tough asks. Probably needs to lower sights a bit and it would be interesting to see him over 2m, as you say.

Quote PN post Chepstow..."Monmiral qualified for the Pertemps Final by finishing fourth at Chepstow and he will go to that race at Cheltenham next."

And pre race..."I've been pulling my hair out with Monmiral because things haven't gone to plan for him as we hoped over fences. So he is back over hurdles for the rest of the season and we are hoping that cheekpieces can spark a revival which can see him qualify for the Pertemps Final by finishing in the first four."

After yesterdays disasters with one trash result after another I had one bet to try and recoup in one go.......Brian Hughes at evens on Pitwood Road

what was it Forest Gumpp said Stupid is as stupid does.....I have been rooting for Harry Cobden winning the championship and I just backed against him in what looked like and turned out to be a 2 horse race:blink:

I very nearly had an after timing boast again. I have a small picture framing business which I run from home and recently did a photo for a guy of his horse winning at Kempton called Mortens Leam.
Outside of the field at 28s, he came their cruising and just ran out of steam close home. I’d had 50p ew way on purely out of sentiment! Lovely horse and here is the picture I framed.
