Being Hannon's 3rd string in the Jersey does not indicate a deal of confidence in ANJAAL. That said he's been highly tried after winning the July Stakes(6f) on GF ground in eyecatching fashion. Since that race he ran in the Dewhurst on GS and over a mile on good at the Craven meeting. He will have his ground tomorrow against lesser opposition than he has faced in his last 2 runs at what appears imo his ideal distance.
I managed to get a Betfair average of 55.81 for a total of £19. I'll round that up to £50 if prices lengthen again and be ready for a substantial in running bet if he starts motoring into contention at the furlong pole.

6.25 Yarmouth.
Frontline Phantom gets his ground for the 1st time tonight since coming back from 2 1/2 years off, hasn't run too badly on softer ground but all his wins over 1m2fs came on G-G/F, coincides with the h'capper dropping him a few pounds and the jocking up of a 7 lbs claimer. Has to go well from this mark surely!
Backed it at 16/1 last night but 4 NRs, not sure what the rule 4 would be.
Had to settle for 4/1 tonight, fair to say we were on a nonjigger lto imo, with Sword having his 1st ride for ages!:)

Ascot Wednesday
2.30 Anjaal-see above. 40/1
3.05 Arabian Queen-There are high hopes for this one, draw mitigates against smashing it.33/1
5.00 Fort Bastion-a will win when wanted horse-again draw = no big bet.33/1
5.35 Dutch Courage-Straightforward but lengthy process of elimination.14/1

One of the bigger names only allowed 30pew Yankee. Was accommodated elsewhere.

A quick trip up to Hamilton this afternoon, looks like young Master Swordsman is being rewarded for his efforts at Yarmouth, can't see any reason he can't follow up.

I take Sir Michael to get at least one from three at Royal Ascot today.

2.30 Mukhmal
4.25 Estimate
5.00 Idea

I must be going off my rocker - for the first race should read 3.05 Cannock Chase - I was thinking about Mark Johnston having twelve runners on the card - must have put me off my stride - apologies for that

Royal meeting aside I am on:

Medici Time - Seems to be running okay now although not won for a couple of years, dropped another 3 lbs and with Philip Makin up makes an interesting pairing. Appreciate David Allen on another for yard in same race but he doesn't seem to be getting all the decent rides for the yard any more.

Social Riser - Franny Norton takes a trip to Leicester from Ascot for this one ride for Charles Hills - decentish each way value on debut for this combination. Decent breeding as well so worth a chance on debut for me at that price.

Woody Bay - back down to last winning mark and Graham Lee on board, 3 'warm up runs since break' and I am throwing this into my each way trixie.

Also going to back DanZoe, c&d winner at Lingfield off higher marks than this and in fact this is joint lowest ever mark which it did win off at the course over 6f. Seb Sanders up who has won on horse before. 9lb swing with Pharoah Jake for 2 length defeat last year over same c&d and same price.

Royal Ascot
Johnston has put his scattergun away today and just has two entries:-
3.05 Sennockian Star - a long shot today
5.00 Hatnell - neutral at 5.5 currently but a live danger to Marzocco.

Alternatively, Stoute's four entries may provide a better chance of success:-
3.05 Bold Sniper - currently being supported at 3.1
3.45 Snow Sky
4.25 Radiator - could be an each-way shot
5.35 Russian Realm - currently being supported at 6.8, if you can call it that in a 29 runner extended sprint handicap.

On balance it has to be the Stoute four for me.

In my youth the Saturday Ascot meeting was never Royal so it seems to me just tacked on to make a few bob for the layers et al, in which case I will swerve that card and head for headquarters where Sir Michael looks the man to follow:
Newmarket
2.15 Andretti (but O'Neill is on Azmaam and Johnston's Diaz could be the better than both?)
4.40 Royal Seal ( Peterkin Johnston/Fanning is the alternative)
5.50 Almuheet (Outback Traveller Noseda/Kelly their sole runner today)

main bet just lost at Ascot..other main one of interest is in the 3.15 Redcar.

The fav Outdo looks a non stayer but puts value to my selection..Chilworth Icon..has come down the weights and runs in easiest race for a while..the run at Lingfield is decent form and will get the strong pace he needs here. 14.0 at the moment

Down to earth with a bump in racing terms today with two NH meetings and a just about mid-grade Flat meeting on the UK mainland. Johnston and Fahey are employing their shotgun approach today with multiple entries at Pontefract.
Pontefract 3.40
Waila -Stoute/Moore sole entry in this listed class1 weight-for-age stakes.

Moday, and an evening card of no great shakes at Windsor - Yawn!
Windsor
7.10 Old Guard Charlton/Doyle looks the one to be on.

Channon/Twiston-Davies have a couple that could be worth considering 7.40 Grevillea, 8.10 Lincoln.

Think that Snow Bay has a good chance tonight, dropped to a decent mark, Lee replaces Tisdale and has a very good record at Thirsk over 7fs on Good ground and firmer, sure to lead and looks a decent back/lay imo.
