What are you watching

Bla Ogen (Blue Eyes) and Follow The Money were both decent Scandi offerings of late, though not in the same league as The Bridge or The Killing. Worth a nose all the same (particularly the latter).

The BBCs version of Hinterland is hilariously ham-acted, and for swerving entirely.

Line of Duty is up there in the top six for me with Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield and Justified.

At present I have House of Cards season 4 on the back burner and have just started Bloodline on Netflix. Very highly recommended.

Just watched Game of Thrones series 5, which I shall rewatch. Still in shock over one episode....[not the last one, though].

I realise I am several years behind the curve here, but I am currently watching The Killing (Danish. Season 1) and the following observations to make.

1) It is too long. I'm about to start episode 17 and I want it to end soon.
2) The Danish police must be ****. British cops can tackle a simple multiple homicide in a couple of episodes, US cops in maybe say 10. This lot appear to have accused half of Denmark without getting it right yet.
3) The actors who hail from the "islands" of Denmark have noticeably different accents to those from the mainland. They sound more "scandi", whilst mainlanders have a distinct Germanic tinge to theirs.
4) Whilst I am enjoying the programme, I have a suspicion that part of the reason why we view Scandinavian shows in a more sympathetic light than shows from our own country is because we are actually reading the script as it goes, which embeds it more deeply in the mind because you have to fully pay attention, rather than wandering as you can do when you are "listening". It's really not terribly different from our hone grown stuff.
5) The number of words in Danish that sound like the pronunciation in English with a Scottish accent is quite remarkable. e.g. aboot the hoose, flytting (removals) - flitting (moving house)

Underworld rinsing it at glastonberry, brining back memories fantastic tunes and atmosphere..

Started Revenge season 1 the other night. A welcome relief after the weeks of Scandinavian incompetence, entertaining and intriguing probably sums it up thus far. Not sure it can sustain that for the whole 4 seasons but I'll go with it for now!

Amy winehouse on more 4,still can't believe how brilliant she was and fantastic lyrics what a talent just an emotional roller coaster listening to her straight from the heart..

The Living and the Dead; saw the whole series on catchup over a couple of days. Now have every light in the house on permanently. I knew I shouldn't've watched it.

Bloodline - excellent. Not in the top ten but close. I felt the the first half of the second season was a bit boring but it finished strong.

Instead of HoC I'm gonna go with Friday Night Lights next. Five seasons about High School Football in the States.

Was just thinking this morning why don't they ever show re runs of The Champions? Absolutely loved that programme when I was little. My dad had a bit of a crush on Alexandra Bastedo too so we always got to watch it.
