Where's the Festival Value?

The New Course places much more emphasis on stamina than the old Course does, Tanlic - this is widely accepted.

It's longer yes but...."The hurdle races on the new and old courses are quite different though with the new course tending to suit the more flat bred horse, as their are only two hurdles in the last three quarters of a mile." is also widely accepted

What I don't get is why anyone thinks he would prefer the Supreme Course.....he's never ran in the flat, he took it up 3/4 mile from home at kempton and never looked like stopping +has won in testing conditions....I would say there's plenty speed laced with enough stamina to handle either course

Nah, Fist; That there's fewer hurdles to break the pace up in the closing stages of the Triumph lends to it being a sterner test than lesser, possibly the reason your beloved Binocular didn't last home in it, yet still managed to garner a CH.

Binocular never ran in the Triumph he went to the Supreme

Binocular ran in the Supreme, not the Triumph Reet.

Anyhow, JP could have a genuine Supreme horse now in Any Second Now so maybe Charli Parcs will be Triumph bound along with Defi Du Seil

Any Second Now doesnt look a horse for the Supreme,
Neptune or bypassing the Festival much more likely

Binocular wouldn't have won a Champion Hurdle either, if Hurricane Fly hadn't been injured. :ninja:

Injured??? Binocular had more sick days than would have kept 10 horses off the course....at his best round Cheltenham he was a match for the Fly any day.

Binocular was a sick horse when Hurricane Fly was odds on fav to win the Champion Hurdle and finished only a 1 length in front of him.......Binocular is unlucky not to have won 3 Champion Hurdles

If you are trying to say he shouldn't have won on his first attempt but for McCoy fooking up then you are back to spouting shite again :)

Never has one man managed to trot-out so much sh*ite, in so short a post.

Congratulations.

In the interests of balance, here is a breakdown of the times Binocular met Hurricane Fly (who finished ahead of Binocular every time they met)

2011 Punchestown Champion Hurdle
Binocular beaten 9L (HF race comment: Settled behind leaders, 5th halfway, 4th 4 out, improved into close 3rd 2 out, travelled well to lead before last, pushed out and kept on strongly run-in, easily )

2012 Champion Hurdle
Binocular beaten 1L (HF race comment: Held up in rear, headway 3 out, went 3rd 2 out and soon driven, kept on under pressure run-in but no impression on leading duo)

2013 Irish Champion Hurdle
Binocular beaten 5L (HF race comment: Tracked leaders in 3rd, went 2nd from 3 out, led travelling well into straight, soon clear, eased towards finish, easily)

2013 Champion Hurdle
Binocular beaten 28L (HF race comment: Soon held up in last, 4th before 2 out, progress entering straight, improved to dispute lead before last, ridden and asserted run-in, kept on well opened 5/4)

Try staying off the dirty-broon , ya fudheid!

That's utter junk Grassy....... Binocular peaked 2008 to 2010 and then in 2011 was hit with one physical problem one after another.

All those races came after the Xmas Hurdle 2011 and 2013 during which time Binocular won only one half decent race when he beat old rival Celestial Halo who was reduced to winning a handicap at the time.

Hurricane Fly was rated a mere 157 When Binocular lost due to that terrible ride by McCoy and was still rated 157 when Binocular won the Champion Hurdle so your comparison is totally unfair.

Binocular was being hailed by the media as the best since Istabraq until thing went wrong and Hurricane Fly started running up a sequence in Ireland......Not knocking Hurricane Fly but you for some reason give Binocular no credit.........He was brilliant on his day just unlucky healthwise

hurricane fly didn't have much luck with his health either and still won a record number of grade 1's

they don't deserve comparison

Just a shame the Fly never rocked up at Cheltenham in 2010. Would have been interesting.

Hurricane Fly would have smashed a mutt like Kyber Kim to smithereens - even at Cheltenham.

Tanlic needs fu*cking sectioned.

What a crock of shyte Grassy.........Hurricane Fly was all out to beat the 162 rated Peddlers Cross by 1 1/2 Lengths Khyber King was rated 165 when Binocular slaughtered him by 3 1/2 Lengths

Peddlers Cross won nothing afterwards Khyber King at least went on to win the Aintree Hurdle off 169 before he went to the dogs

His second win came against Rock on Ruby who had totally gone by then had an awful season winning nothing bar a listed race at Doncaster. He would not have won that if Darlan a 166 horse had not fallen when running all over him. ROR beat Countryside flame 3 lengths that day and 1 3/4 lengths in the CH...........So the horse he beat about the same distance as Binocular beat Khyber King also went for the Aintree Hurdle only he ran like a mule and was beaten 13 lengths and was retired shortly afterwards

ROR went on to lose by 10 lengths to the New One 1 3/4 less than Countryside Flame had at Aintree.........Probably coincidence but def further truth it was by comparison a very poor Champion Hurdle.

Any Muppet can make stupid statements but the facts are there to see if one cares to look.

Your the ones who need sectioned and a good shot of Thai whiskey to wake you up out of that dream world you are in.

For anyone who disgrees take off your Emerald Green coloured glasses .......forget all his wonderful wins in Ireland, which they were and tell me his Champion Hurdle wins were any better than Binocular's and why?
