When Nicky H was asked in 2012 before Champion Chase re tactics for Finian's Rainbow he replied " We won't give last year's winner a free lead down the hill like last year !"
He may well have won anyway and was the best horse on the day but having run over 2m4f and 3 miles that season the opposition were watching each other and he took off, leaving them in his wake. at least that's how i remember it tanlic.
 
I'd love to see Simply Ned who is said to be jumping out of his skin run a big race here but they reckon at Greystoke the best chance of a winner at Cheltenham is next year:p

Sadly the talented Ribble Valley who Nicky wants to look after because he thinks he'll make a fine hurdler next season won't be going south and misses the bumper. He will most likely head North to Ayr this weekend..

So my advice have a bet on Ribbie as soon as prices go up wherever he runs and put the winnings on at 14/1 ew on Simply Ned without Altior for abit of fun...no fun in backing Altior at long odds on and shi**ing yourself if he clouts one��
 
Daryl Jacob rode the race of his life but still Altior found......amazing despite Daryl timing it to perfection and going on for a few strides and the grey loking he was going to pass him too Altior only hit evens on the machine for 5 grand
 
yeah that was ridiculous at the start

his consistency and attitude with the way he plugs on after the last to power away from everything and through the line isn't like anything i've seen before but i truly believe peak Sprinter Sacre would have kicked him into touch

would love to see him have a crack at the King George
 
Simply glorious horse! His jumping is a joy to watch (bar the water!). I first saw him in the paddock for the Supreme when everyone said Min was invincible, and he blew me away with his sheer quality on looks. He has everything you could wish for in a racehorse.
 
Initial reaction was how ridiculous the start was, but I think now, they all decided to leave Altior lead (as at Ascot) and hope that he gets up to his antics. Think it was clever.

Super horse but not as good as Cyrname currently and nothing today to suggest that those ratings are wrong. I suspect that he would beat Cyrname at levels over 20f, but maybe not at Ascot.

And bet 365 gave me a free £5 bet which I put ew on politilogue at 25s.
 
Miles below form but I think the start might have worked against him as he ended up probably going too fast behind St C.

But I love the way he just runs away from them up the hill.

Altior’s from the last turbo when he looks in trouble is amazing - Politologue ran his best race with Cobden on in the Tingle Creek and I reckon he suits him better than STD agree excellent ride from Daryl too.

Did they allow that?

The last time I tried to claim a free bet in a w/o market they settled it as a loser saying only the normal market counted for free bets.

My free bet in the race was Hell's Kitchen ew 40/1. Finished fourth :blink:

Mine has been settled. If you backed in the W/o Altior market then you have a legitimate complaint
The w/o Altior & Min market was only 2 places

I agree. And I really don't get it to be honest. Passing up a chance to go down in history to instead go into the unknown and possibly oblivion. Most two mile chasers when stepped up to big races over three miles are never the same horse again over two.

Why be afraid of Chacun Pour Soi? He's got nothing else to beat him and Chacun is fragile. He's one that will have me on tenterhooks when Willie puts the gun to his head in his final prep for March.
