2 Mile Chasers 20/21

I don't get the fascination with this horse, I have to say.

I'm not sure I'd call it "fascination", to be honest.

PN has always made it clear he likes the horse and has always regarded it as a potentially high class chaser but I think that's about it although we'd all be happy if he was genuinely brilliant.

I think one or two of us have played a part in the "fascination" but it has grown arms and legs to some extent. Landing the Betfair Hurdle for the Longshot thread has embedded it in the psyche of forumites and some of us have a special place in our hearts for it but, for me, no more so than many other nice winners.

For every Pic D'Orhy that comes along there's a Solo but we bury that in the psychological graveyard.

The list of horses in PFN’s yard he has said wouldn’t go on to make a top-class chaser, is a somewhat shortish one, DO!

I've just realised due to timing of posts you were talking about Pic D'ory not Shishkin.

In which case neither do I. He'll win a nice handicap somewhere but I can't see him being a Grade 1 horse.

Although Cyrname hardly sparkled at a similar stage, and Nicholls is as good as it gets getting improvement out of them over fences as they mature, so who knows. They certainly like him a lot, and he must show them plenty at home.

I'm not a big fan either but he could have at least offered some form of opposition to Shishkin on Monday. Has just been declared for the Friday race so not going to happen anyhow.

I'll believe this when I see Champ heading to the post at Leopardstown on 26th December, and not before.
Seconded, wont run in the king George either, but will bemoan the lack of races for him (nothing he would be 1/3 for!!)

Very surprised to see Notebook third in the betting for the Poplar Square tomorrow. Cheltenham run is self-evidently for excusing, and I honestly figured he’d be a warm-order.

I'd be against him tomorrow. He had a fair few outings last year and wasn't at his best in the Arkle. I reckon he takes more out of himself because of the way he gets buzzed up and so that together with a lot of Henry's needing the run + the 8lb he and Fakir give Cash Bank means the Mullins is a bet.

Henry's fto is enough reason for me to be cautious
That’s a good point PJ. Minella Indo would suggest that some are more forward than others though. It might be best to wait until he’s in the parade ring to see how much condition he’s carrying.

3/1 Notebook now.

I’ll find it hard to justify letting that sort of price go by me. Has the clear beating of the other two on form, though the drift suggests something mildly sinister i.e. he isn‘t going to be quite ready today.

All the money for Cash Back this morning.
Getting 8lbs from Notebook to make up 1/2 Length from their DRF duel.
Don't think there's any other reason than that for the price differential.

Good enough from Notebook, though possibly fortunate to a degree with Cash Back shipping early.

Bottled out of the single, but have it rolling onto something.

I thought it was a performance that screamed Ryanair. Looked outpaced at stages. A very good performance nonetheless.
