The ground is heavy already on the hurdles course Sandown....
Still remains soft on the chase.
Perfect for Altior...should make the 2m that much more of a stamina test, that Hendo says the old man is ready for!

Politologue will like it too and as I've posted in other threads, thinking of him as hugely overpriced at 20s for the Champion Chase it'd be remiss of me not to have some sort of involvement here while not needing to get carried away as a good performance will be nice for my AP vouchers.

I can't see Rouge Vif enjoying the ground and I'm still struggling to comprehend how Grenateen can be a similar price to Politologue so having taken the 11/2 about him placing here (when 3 places were offered AP) and in the QMCC I've taken another option of the 10/3 insurance bet where if he wins I'm paid at those odds but he comes second and I get my stake back. It was a close call but I marginally preferred it to the e/w bet with 2 places, especially as bookies like Paddy are only 7/2 for the outright.
 
Reflecting my bewilderment, I took 33’s Castlegrace Paddy this morning. He’s the only one left in the race that will enjoy genuinely deep, bottomless ground. Just have to hope it’s near unraceable, and it gets nasty after today’s chases.

I was about to put up the same thing. Bit of a cliff horse for me, but thought he was Grade 1 after win in Cork a few years back. Was going to wait for the W/O market tomorrow, but in the hope that the fav doesnt turn up....

Politologue is 1/1 on heavy ground, winning a "listed" novices' hurdle by 59 lengths, albeit at 2/9 in a race where I could have probably finished second.

Not the worst bet you've had!
Had APT got up and beaten Castlegrace Paddy by a head LTO, and lined up in this tomorrow, he'd be 2nd fav.
That coupled with the ground really suiting Paddy, I think it's a fair price. For my sins, I've followed you in for a small interest....

Have 4’s about Politologue from early in the week.

So Altior probably wins 10L hard-held.

Totally agree and this where rating take a bashing One minute Dempsey (2nd) was rated in the low 150's the next he's a 165 horse. So VPU despite winning a shockingly bad QMCC get overrated for what he has achieved over 2m...fair play to him he was much better over longer trips. Masyer Minded gets the craziest rating ever and I remeber he was rated higher that Kauto by OC or Timeform...he did look spectacular that day but that can be said about many when racing alone.

Best performance I ever saw in an Arkle was Douvan.....Sprinter famed from destroying them from 4 out but the videos run side by side tell a truer story. Douvan covered thos last 4 fences faster by 5 lengths in his Arkle. Was faster overall and on ground that was supposedly slower I have an email I sent to Timeform after Sprinterwon at Donnie say he wasn't the nest Arkle he was the new Arkle which David Cleary shrugged off so there's not many bigger fans of Sprinter than myself and did it Douvan has never reached those heights again through injuries..............doesn't it suck ? WE will never know

The problem is form has a habit of turning on it's head.

My worry with Altior is he may be digressing. His win over Sceux Royal who was bang out of for wasn't his greatest.

He will be 11 in less than a month so he is no spring chicken and only Moscow Flyer won as a 10yo..hard act to follow

Nicky Henderon's horses are also in and out at the moment.......If by an chance Rouge Vif turns out his trainer stated the horse only has one gear HIGH add to that Politologue who likes to be up there............my original choice Rouge Vif is unlikely to have enough gas left to get up the hill but PN's horses always find that bit extra at the moment..so I am switching to him

I'm going to keep it simple and back Politologue and lay my stake back in running

Currently 5.7 on Betfair, can’t believe he doesn’t lead, normally a fabulous jumper, so expect to get out at around 2/1

if anyone sees this and has done that 365 tingle/cc bet id try and cash it out quickly. ive managed too and they probably just void it anyway but if you can do to be on the safe side.......
