Nicky Henderson's star chaser Altior has been ruled out of his planned comeback in the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on Saturday as a result of the ground conditions.

Speaking on Friday night, Henderson said: "It is with a heavy heart we have decided that Altior is not going to run. We simply don't want to bottom him again given what happened last year."
 
How much red wine has Nicky drunk, the ground is soft with the odd good to soft patch and there is no real rain forecast. The Londesbourough 2 mile chase today was won in a time 15 seconds outside standard. I have to conclude that Altior is not the horse he once was and he won't be winning in March.

Dunno, Brian.

I just think Henderson is a bit of a coward who overthinks almost everything. Horse could be perfectly fine, but the trainer’s bottle has gone.

Could clash with Put The Kettle On there, De Bromhead has said that is her next target

Laughable, particularly so after all the commentary in the week. He gubbed UDS in exactly these conditions who's probably one of the best mud lovers you'll ever see.

Running against Cyrname in his optimum conditions is a world away from the line-up tomorrow, notwithstanding the fact they're all good horses in their own right.
