Aintree

I was hoping he would have Walkon at the front 2/3 out but can't complain, TdA may have pulled out more anyway.

Today's betting will be much more circumspect. A minor punt on Super Duty and the forecast with Vino G. thus following 2 of my Festival runners-up. A speculative ew pop on General Miller. Trio D'Alene and Gullible Gordon will also carry the burden of my backing.

Flemenstar is a horse that needs slow ground to slow the others up.

Cue Card is some horse. I reckon nearly the equal of Well Chief and Azertyuiop.

Sprinter Sacre is simply the best horse any of us will ever see. He would beat Kauto and Moscow with his head in his chest. He is simply incredible.

I don't think he is a 3m chaser though.

Agreed.

It was a bit disappointing that Flemenstar was beaten so far but given how well he jumped he probably ran his race, and you're probably right that soft ground would suit him better than the others.

Cue Card is definitely top class, especially at this trip, that's how good SS is.

I would have loved to see Walkon win the Topham. Second in the Paddy Power, the December Gold Cup and the Topham in the same season, he has been a really game and consistent money spinner.

Few people are being kinda harsh on Flemenstar who is a damn good horse. He needs 2 things. 1. A bit more cut in the ground. 2. JP to buy the horse and send him to another trainer.

Flemenstar = Nickname

Get him back over 2 miles on soft ground.

Nickname probably didn't stay quite as well as Flemenstar does, but otherwise I think you're spot-on, Bar.

Great run from Walkon today. He's always been a bit of a 'meh' horse for me, but those two early season runs were too handy to ignore (not as if he was poor in the others either), and he put up another really game and honest effort today. He's worth upping in trip to 3m and having a bash at something like the Charlie Hall next season - a really admirable type. :cool:
