Another fast race?

As you know, I tend not to take too much notice of 2yos at any time of year, let alone before Royal Ascot. Astaire has a time rating of 90 for that, good enough I imagine to give him a chance in one of the big races there. I see the last to finish, beaten nearly 30 lengths, came out and got to within two lengths of winning next time. I try not to read too much into these things but I will be interested to see where the principals appear next and how they get on. I see the winner has a G1 entry while others have big sales race engagements.

Jeez, I've only just noticed Jallota, third in that race, won yesterday at 12/1 with the fourth Munjally in third (split by a Hannon newcomer). It's looking like good form.

thanx for the info, i will keep note of these!

keep giving those winners.

York Saturday (25/5) 4.35 - Pearl Bridge and Nurpur were only a head apart but the time compares very favourably with Kingsgate Choice's in the valuable 5f handicap for older horses 90 mins earlier.
Kyllachy Rise, third in this race, runs at Salisbury tomorrow (3.00). Unfortunately, it looks like he'll be odds-on so no financial interest for me.

A couple from the 2 - 3 meetings I've rated this season run this week. Nothing special, just interesting.

Dare To Achieve (2nd to Remote) in a 1M2F Maiden at Sandown on Saturday. Classy looking types in the line up, but will get a mark after this.

Indignant also at Sandown in a 7F 0-95. Could come on for that Newbury run, which would make it a touch better than it's mark if thats the case. Though again, plenty of good yards represented.

Like I say, only interesting, very much doubt I'll be betting.

Will rate those 2 meetings pointed out earlier (York and Chester I think they were) when I return home. Will post my finds to compare once done.

As I said before, I don't normally do ordinary midweek stuff. I just happened to notice KR was out. Also, tipping an odds-on shot (seems to have won like one, mind) doesn't count for much in my book and is quite different from tipping a 3/1 shot that goes into odds-on.

Speaking from personal experience, though, one loser tipped at work will turn you immediately into a bigger tipper of sh1te than a manure truck.

Back on topic, I think I've spotted another fast race. Again, it may be just the fastest on a day of slow times but I have Esteaming (Race 2432, 5.00 York, 17 May, 12f 3yo h'cap) clocking by far the fastest comparative time of the day. The next nine home had either won or been placed the time before and they were pretty strung out at the end.

Sioux Chieftain, third that day and the only prominent runner to stay on up the straight, is out tomorrow at Haydock. Had the race been over 12f I'd have been all over it like a rash but I'm not sure the step up in trip will suit. I'm happy just to watch (figuratively speaking, as I won't see it) as I suspect they'll have a more serious target in mind back down in trip.

fanx Desert Orchid, i agree this horse looks a good prospepct for tomora, have you taken a price yet? im on will hills and nothing up as yet.

Read my post again, Frog.

I don't think it will win.

I might be wrong. If it stays it wins. If it improves for the step up in trip, it p1sses up. I won't be risking either eventuality as I'm not convinced it will stay.

If someone can convince me it will stay, I might change my mind.

Sioux Chieftain has the same Dosage Index figure as Dawn Approach, 1.67. Not likely to stay. He is by Mount Nelson whose progeny don't get much further than 10f.

fanks MLM, not allot of confidence behind the horse, think ill will give it a miss like the rest of you.

Last Saturday's 5.00 at Haydock looks like it might be worth following.

Robot Boy and Brazen ran behind Secretinthepark at Newmarket in May, as discussed before. They were second and third here behind Shore Step. These three were five lengths clear of the rest, who were strung out for a sprint handicap. It might otherwise have been an ordinary race but my time rating for the winner is a fair bit better than I'd expect for an ordinary Class 4 winner. The winner has gone up 6lbs. In my book, that wouldn't stop him winning another Class 4 but if he's on a curve better handicaps could be within his scope.

Be interesting to get the forum thoughts on the 2-y-o maiden at York on Friday. Only just outside the 2-y-o course record.

Significantly fast, DJ, and in very good style as well. There's a possibility of the winner, Reroute, going for the Queen Mary. It would be an unconventional prep but I couldn't let her go unbacked if she ran there. I'm already on Beldale Memory at 5/1 but Reroute could be very smart indeed.

Dare To Achieve didn't run.

Indignant finished 2nd after taking it up. The slower ground and stiffer course may not have helped. Can be considered a confirmation of form I guess, as was stepping up in class also.
