Ante-Post Punting Plans/Propositions Thread.

Sporting John a hard no. Poor run last year in the Ballymore
Powers and Sportsbook are NRNB and have a
w/o market on the Marsh.

I think he's improved. Last Saturdays run was a step up. I think he's solid each way material, and at slightly better odds, I reckon there's a chance they'll step him to the RSA.

I've been using two or three bookies the last year or so, Paddy's I don't use, I'll need to log back in to my Betfair account.

I think I should do it NRNB shouldn't I.

I say every year that I will wait for nrnb because I can never get the right races or some dont even run.having said that I'm at it again.
I've just done KOSHARI for thr coral cup at 25/1 boosted to 28.6/1 but only because that is so much better than any other firm and I think nrnb is 12s.i thought it was worth chancing.
I thought this was a definite non Trier at the weekend.

Good bet I think.

It seems as though because I self excluded from Paddy Power about 18 years ago, now that Paddy's and Betfair have merged, that I'm automatically permantly excluded from Betfair Sportsbook.

A bit wank that like.

Thanks for all feedback on my question guys, (not).

I know you all love me really, but surely you can be more helpful than one reply from Euro thus far. :)

Guys and girls. I'm looking at placing an anti post bet in the next day or two. I need advice.

I am looking to place a Lucky 15 each way, the first race is the Betfair this Saturday, the next three races at the Cheltenham Festival.

One horse I'll be sticking in is Sam's Profile in the Stayers Hurdle. The trainer says if he's well he'll take his chance.

The last two horses I'm looking at backing in this each way lucky 15, - (yes I know these races have red hot favorites, but anyway), I just wanted opinions on Sporting John running in the RSA Chase, and Chatham Street Lad running in the Marsh. Both these horses I like. I think at the odds present, I'd be betting them to run in the races above.

What do you think? Should I wait until NRNB?

This.

Yes marb I definitely think you should wait until nrnb.unless there is a big difference and you can afford to lose the money.

Absolute no Brainer, One horse doesn't run, you have lost 7 of your bets!

Not sure what thread to put this in, so decided here!

PP have an interesting market on who will be shortest SP of these four favs;

Envoi 5/4
Monkfish 7/4
CPS 3/1
Shishkin 9/1

Surely Monkfish is the play here?

Concertista should be in that market.

Shishkin faces too good an animal in Energumene to shorten any further.

If the bookies win on Tuesday, they’ll want to go after Monkfish on the Wednesday. And if they get Monkfish beaten, they will almist certainly want to get after Envoi in the Thursday.

Chacun a great price at 3/1, imo. In real terms, he has by far the simplest task - there’s literally nothing to take him on with.

That was my first reaction too GH, but looking at the markets separately for each race, there is some credence of opposition to Chacun in the form of ex winners and you know the money will come for Altior on the day.

I just dont see any credible opposition to Monkfish, most of the rest in the top of the betting wont turn up.

Altior will go in the Ryanair I reckon, BoS, and I think CPS is a stone better horse than any other 2-miler in the UK.

Agree that The Monk looks head and shoulders above his contemporaries too, but with it being a novice-chase, the layers might want to go after him a bit - especially if they’ve had a decent Tuesday.

That's interesting that you take this opinion Grassy....I have been of the opinion for quite some time....
Hendo was granted a fact-finding mission, but that has gone now with the abandonment of Newbury and although it has been rescheduled to a week on Sunday, this surely brings in the time factor for Cheltenham. Hendo had already started the, should I/shoulnt I run antics in the press releases. If Altior doesn't run at the revised meeting, do you think it's more likely the Champion is the target. The Ryan Air gives two days extra prep time..what do you think?

I think Hendo knows the horse doesn’t have the pace for 2-miles these days, Max. Every time he’s asked about him, he mentions the Ryanair as a back-up.

It’s either run against a red-hot fave (and a horse who comfortably beat you last time), or go up in trip and contest a wide-open Grade 1, where many of the expected challengers have disappointed somewhere along the line.

It’s a no-brainer decision for me. He gets beaten if he runs in the QMCC, but has some sort of chance if he goes in the Ryanair.

Note: The fact I took 25/1 about him for the longer race immediately after the Desert Orchid, may colour my view to a degree!

The Nathanial & Lacy (nee Slaney) Hurdle is widely accepted as a good trial for the Albert Bartlett but so is the Surehaul Mercedes at Clonmel and two horses I was hoping to see entered for next week were Torygraph & Minella Escape and they both were.

Of the two, Torygraph looks the much stronger stayer and so, despite HdB doing well in the race in recent years (Elliott has had a few near misses) I’ve kept chipping at the 20/1 in the hope of a good showing.

After a slow reaction to the race in early years the Irish have started dominating this and I’m going to sink or swim with Torygraph because the winner of the N&L isn’t going here and while Fakir is a player, he looked short of pace, Gentlemansgame is looking likely to swerve it and Stattler doesn’t look that strong.

I’m already with Barbados Buck’s so these are the two I’ve committed to.

CPS has never even run at Cheltenham. Obviously on the figures he's a class act and looks streets ahead of his competition, but it's just something to weigh into the equation. The others have all run and won at last year's festival.

It’s a bet about who goes off shortest, Shane - winning/losing is immaterial.

I don’t reckon there will be many prepared to back strongly against CPS, just because he doesn’t have track-form. He’s simply too far ahead of his opponents, for that emerge as a factor, imo.

Backing Chacun Pour Soi in this market is akin to laying Altior in next week’s Game Spirit.

If he fails to show something of his old self then CPS will be short on the day, especially if Altior is rerouted to the Ryanair. If he wins and wins will however then I find it hard to believe any horse could be significant odds on in a race he’s in.

FWIW Monkfish will be shortest IMO. Take Royale Pagaille out of the SP market and he’ll have practically nothing to beat.

I can only find a price on this with the Betfair sportsbook which isn't ideal for getting much on but Put The Kettle on is 9/1 with them for the QM without CPS.
Too big.
