Champion Hurdle 2014

Che Guevara was one of the greatest men of the 20th Century.

Achieved zero but of course if he had actually attained power and you had got on the first plane to go and live in his communist state (as if.....) then you would have had no option other than to say precisely that. Over and over and over...

Che wasn't a champagne socialist. He helped attain power in Cuba and didn't hang around that long before committing to another struggle.

As for his achievements, he was up against the combined might of the United Fruit Company and the CIA. Not an even fight.

Do you think he would have won last years supreme?

I don't think he would have been top 3

Im with Frankel

Thats a bizarre claim isnt it? Subsequent events perhaps have some say here?

Did the Christmas hurdle not happen? And to many eyes MTOY settled better and probably improved in that race. Not to mention the distance back to decent benchmarks

A great man to bring about a failed state that has had to have russians and chinese to pump cash into it to avoid famines and bans its own citizens from any form of overseas travel

how much evidence do people actually need to finally understand that communism has FAILED

I re-watched the finish of that race 4 or 5 times last night. TNO lost loads of momentum at the last! He clattered through it, stepped awkwardly and definitely slowed down.

Just a bit

Which race we talking about? Hardly matters because it happened in both

Christ i only watched it once and saw that clearly enough

On the subsequent form book he would have definitely finished first three. And thats all wer really have to go on isnt it?

Thats what i dont get granger. I simply cant see how that could have been ruled out. Especially at a course that plays to his strengths

The Americans went into Guatemala and Nicaragua not to fight communism, but to bring down democratically elected governments because it didn't suit the big corporations that run the place.

This is getting too off topic now.

Kempton at Christmas against MTOY.

I was just responding to tiggers1972 who is of the opinion that "TNO lost virtually no momemtum, had the run of the race too."

I havent backed TNO but theres a lot of scraping around for reasons to oppose him. Wrong connections in some eyes i sense

He simply cannot be overlooked. Form book has him right in the mix with MTOY at least

Gets over the recent last fence Kauto style quirk and he's forward. Has the stamina for what could be a strong run race but (and think this is underestimated in this race and at this course) really sticks neck out and battles

More substance to him than some hyped up contenders thats for sure

He looked impressive at Cheltenham last year Clive, that is fair enough, but he beat two out and out stayers by out sprinting them. - Rule the world is a world hurdle horse now and PA would be 3 mile chasing if healthy, (possibly needing 4miles+) Any realistic Champion hurdle horse of the future would have done similar.

I do question his jumping and would see that as the main reason he avoided the supreme last year. One mistake in 6 weeks and his goose will be cooked.

His price and his hurdling are reason enough. He's shortened since the start of the season whilst Our Conor has lengthened. This makes no sense whatsoever.

Our Conor only being 5 year old I think is a big factor in the betting. I think if He were a 6yr old he would be Fav or Joint Fav.

History is against him.

I worry about his hurdling but surely hes established himself as a genuine and experienced horse running to decent form?

Our Conor to my mind, is no more attractive than he was after the triumph. I was more tempted to back him then than i would be now. I dont rule him out but he hasnt pulled up trees since has he?

It was enough to cost him the race, arguably ofcourse. He most certainly lost momentum though.
As for the run of the race, Certainly suited MTOY more. 2m on a flat track with a target on his back, TNO was a sitting duck against a horse like MTOY.

Ok... thats fair reasoning. My strategy with jumpers has been based around giving more value to jumping ability than the market seems to. And its my main concern

Hardy Eustace was a perfect example of a wonderful hurdler

He's proved he's up to mixing it with the best and the sort of race the Champion Hurdle will be is sure to suit him more than small field crawls. He hurdles beatifully as well.

Agree entirely with that

Couldn't agree more with this. Have to admit that I am starting to see OC as biggest threat. Actually still think he is a decent price.

Have to agree Our Conor does have the most beautiful and fluent hurdling action. Was my biggest bet of Cheltenham last year and I really am a Huge fan of the horse.

But I think he might have to wait one more year for his first CH victory.

Just cannot get away from TNO for this years race!
