Cheltenham 2023 antepost

Seen this thread and got me looking at markets again. Prices are disgraceful and not really much point unless you find something.

I have:
Allegorie De Vassey 25s for Mares
Dysart Dynamo at 12s for Arkle (now 20s)
Mighty Potter 25s for Turners.
American Mike for Ballymore at various prices.
Gaelic Warrior 25s Ballymore
Martinstown 33s Triumph
Madmansgame Albert Bartlett (Not sure my thinking on this)
Brandy Love 20s mares

Most stuck in multis together. Happy if one comes in of them.

I'm heading to Cheltenham this weekend, I hope to meet one or two of you there.

Although I don't have a share in it myself, our syndicate runs Dads Lad on Saturday. They'll be hoping the ground doesn't get overly soft, but it looks like there's a fair bit of rain expected tomorrow.

Over and above having dutched Honeysuckle and Constitution Hill for plenty at 10/11 I've been thinking about Constitution Hill........Golden Cygnet was a really special novice but this horse is a planet among stars.

I watched the Supreme and the Champion Hurdle today yet again and came to the same conclusion as before this is the best hurdler I have seen Period.

As the commentator said he sauntered into the lead. This was despite them going full tilt from the off and in a much faster time than the Champion Hurdle.

When that happens you fully expect from the last couple of hurdles they would start to slow drastically.

However without nothing more than hands and heels from 2 out he's covered the distance at least 8 lengths faster than Honeysuckle who was flat to the boards.

Little doubt in my mind had Nicky run him in the Champion Hurdle and they had gone at the pace they did he'd have been pulling a cart at 2 out and won by about a dozen lengths or more.

So despite Double J warning me about backing shorties months before Cheltenhaham I've been a very naughty boy

I've been backing him steadily from 3.65- 3.25 on the machine and 2/1 to 11/8 with several bookies , plus took 5/2 him being unbeaten next season on sportsbook.

I was going to back him again if Doom won today but alas you can't win em all.:)

I'm a sucker for Champions and have backed the best flat horse in training and the best Hurdler in a sizezable double.

Flightline is unbelievable and nothing has even come close to beating him. He'll be 1/4 at best on the day.

According to NJH it is scary how much Constitution Hill has matured since last season. He looks an absolute certainty to go through the season unbeaten barring accidents.

Not that it matters if I am wrong but I have a feeling they will find a reason to retire Honeysuckle before the Champion Hurdle if Constitution Hill looks better than ever in the lead up to the race.

Flightline
Constitution Hill

11/4 Double.

I've seen it mentioned that he wasn't in a good way after his fall in March. There was no reference to him in the stable tour either.

I've taken L'Homme Pressé at 12/1 for the Gold Cup for the sake of an early interest. I'm not convinced A Plus Tard can be beaten and I have huge respect for GDC but LHP also deserves serious consideration. I get the impression they think he's some way better than Royale Pagaille, which they also consider a contender this season. I just want to have LHP onside at this early stage.

APT is top class but he has been beaten twice at the Festival and this will be his fifth visit, a red flag for me. His win in March was in a race run in a faster time than the previous year but interestingly the 2021 renewal was quicker up until they had completed a circuit - so APT got into a nice jumping rhythm early doors. GDC doesn't strike me as a Gold Cup horse at all - he's just not economical enough over his fences (compare the Golden Miller jumping performances of GDC and Vautour - the latter is what you want, efficiency). I like l'Homme Presse as well and also Stattler who absolutely mullered a good yardstick in the NHC and strikes me as a very decent jumper, although we'll have to see how that holds up at pace.
