Cheltenham Festival 2012: DAY 4

Synchronised is top-weight in the National off 161. I think today confirmed he's worth his actual 167 (and will probably go up a few lbs). Will they go for it?

Well I have no interest in the Conditionals race, but Tara Royal and Cornas look too big to me in the Grand Annual. 20/1 and 40/1 respectively. Last chance saloon.

Syncronised if rated

off Knockara beau is about 167

time for rupert ran really well so is probably worth 5 more than his ohr making Syncronised 168

these are OHR's not timeform or rpr or whatever

i'd go for 168 mesen

Similar, although they always seem to add on a couple of pounds for it being the Gold Cup so I wouldn't be surprised to see 170.

i was thinking exactly the same when i posted tbh..they normally do

i suppose when you consider where he came from he's worth a bit more..but purely on what was achieved it can't be far off

i still think LR should have been rated off what a friend last year..the 180 talk was nonsense to me

How is Street entertainer second favourite????

Let's hope this isn't some more fooling around.

Between Bourne and the Henderson two for me. Make a track should go best of the Gigginstown 2.

You wouldn't believe it, I changed the competition selection of £250 win Attaglance to Plan A lol.

Ah dear, its always bad when you enter the Grand Annual chasing losses - Toner could have avoided this situation for me. Donoghue got a little excited out in front.

I'm looking for the saver here and I don't see it. Suspect Lucky William and Idarah are two Irish horses with a bit more in them - unless O'Grady was putting everyone away by saying that Slieveardagh probably wouldn't go here after Leopardstown.

French Opera and Kumbeshwar perhaps

Did anyone see David Bridgwater's interview on Racing UK?

Very amusing. 'Some people think there's only two trainers in this country'...and then a few profanities about The Giant Bolster's original handicap mark. [He was actually complaining that he was underrated]

That horse is only 7 so could be an improver still.

But you look to next year,

Sir Des Champs
Bobs Worth
First Lieutenant
Flemenstar [?]
The Bolster
Long Run
Synchronised
Invictus
Bog Warrior [Probably not]
Hidden Cyclone [Ryanair?]
Weapons Amnesty [? - O'Leary suggested the other day that the horse is probably a 'write off' now]

Of course, we'd do well to get 4 of those to the starting post...but still....
add Last Instalment

AP McCoy told Ruby Walsh to pull up Kauto Star during today’s Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after the 12-year-old horse struggled to keep up with the pace early on.
Dougie Costello set a fearsome pace on course specialist Midnight Chase, which had the likes of Knockara Beau, Diamond Harry, Weird Al and eventual winner Synchronised all off the bridle early on.
Synchronised won in a times of 6mins 36.19secs, which was 0.81 seconds faster than standard.
Kauto Star, who was sent off at a well-backed 3-1, was never fluid and Walsh pulled up the Cheltenham hero after the ninth fence.
“He was never going, and was beaten early, explained Walsh. “I knew at the back of the water jump we were beaten.
“AP told me, 'If I was you I’d pull him up,’ and he was right.
“Even Knockara Beau was travelling better and when horses rated beneath the great Kauto Star are going better it wasn’t such a hard decision to pull him up.
"I would have felt a lot worse if he had fallen at the third-last and broken his neck. That’s racing though.
“He’s been a wonderful horse, a horse of a lifetime.”

Nightmare today drawing a blank, after a sublime Thursday of five winners! Knackered now and ready for the onset of post-Cheltenham blues.
