Shalamo Hill Theatre-L Mullaney-1m Newcastle.

A slow maturing horse didn't race until a 3 y o when showed nothing for C Teague, may have had problems as only raced once as a 4 y o before going to P Midgleys stable where showed 1st form this year when 4th to Burnwynd Boy btn just over a length staying on over 7fs. The winner has won again since as have the 2nd and 3rd(3 wins). Ran dissapointingly on next two outings and moved onto L Mullaney, had a run in a maiden(200/1) before yesterdays run where stayed on well in the straight to finish 4 3/4 lengths 6th despite carrying 7lbs overweight. Race will look poor on paper but Wisemans Diamond is a solid yardstick over 1m at Newcastle(2nd 58) and had recent winners Glenluji and Monthly Medal over 4 lengths behind.
Might need another couple of furlongs but looks capeable of winning a class 6 in the north from its proper mark and may pop up at a big price.
 
Havn't a clue about that one at kempton stew was raining at warwick and its only 5/2 so it wouldn't interest me.

the time looked very good compared to the other 7f race as well..i'm just a bit concerned about intent to win here..McMahon is just 1 from 19 in 2yo handicaps on the AWwith just a 0.4 AE. It doesn't suggest he particularly targets these races ..if he had a bit better stats i would be having a go on this as looks potentially 10lb+ well in on the clock.

At the prices i've dropped some on Zain Spirit at 24.0 with the hope of trading out in running at 5.0. Without that last run over 9f would be shorter in betting but needs a strong pace to rip the guts out of the oppo
 
An ultra competiotive handicap improvers barnet fair and nassau storm head the betting unsurprisingly,capone looks a little bit of value very rarely runs a bad race on the aw is 4/13 on the aw and 2/3 over c/d.Has the beating of sugar beet and brave echo,seek the fairland and elna bright on last years aw form,finisished third twice to oasis dancer at lingfield one was in a handicap off 97 the other off levels in a listed race.Should be backed at that price and looks a reasonable trade a couple of formlines with frastellino ties in with barnet fairs form,he is an aw specialist i wouldn't have him bigger than 9/1 in this race!!
 
Thanks EC1, i think you can take it as read with eddies horses that they're trying, know the stable very well. He does have a poor stats record here but doesn't unduly bother me. I've backed it at 3/1 on betfair, which is very short for me to bet.

good luck Stewart..i don't think the stats are that bad tbh..i just like to see just a little bit more to back at the price..had it been 12/1 it wouldn't have put me off

on paper it looks thrown in

Secretinthepark 7.05 Kempton. 5/2

Looks to have an excellent chance of following up his debut win at Warwick when despite a slow start beat the 2 Godolphin horses Darkening and Tarbawi even though Darkening had 3 previous runs and Tarbawi also had the benefit of a previous run.
Darkening won his next race easily(class 4) off a mark off 77 before just getting btn a head by Red Avenger off 83 at Newmarket in a class 2 nursery with nto winner Hoarding 1 1/4 bhd (giv 3lb). Interestingly Red Avenger had won the 2nd division at Warwick carrying the same weight as Secretinthepark in a time nearly 2 secs slower. Red Avenger is now rated 92 and Hoarding is now rated 90!
Eddie Mcmahon usually leaves plenty to work on for debut run and this horse looks well treated on 79 in this class 3 nursery.
 
For pedigrees, horses that haven't run etc, Aidenredbin is brilliant, just a hard slog to read, very in depth. Not my thing really but very good if thats your bag.
My personal favourite is Drogerson, very good form reader finds some big priced dark uns! Most of the regulars on the selection thread (with loads of posts) are worth reading, but at the end of the day you need to make your own mind up, but they along with giggs can help you sort the wheat from the chaff
 
Thanks, will take a look. Always interesting to read the views of people who know what they're on about - especially re flat racing which has always been weaker than the jumps for me punting-wise.
 
It worked out that race from warwick then stew,not sure about the times but doesn't matter nice winner.I was being greedy tonight looking for far bigger prices than i was ever going to see tropics was 4/5 and had run in two of the fastest races ever run at kempton by a 2yr old.And it ran a second and a half quicker than the mcmahon horse eased tonight,cracking buy at 3,500!!!
