Madeleine Mccann

I saw it advertised as an "exlusive" in one the women's magazines too. I am just beginning to hate the way this news item is still being manipulated worldwide with all these massive donations, US talk shows appearances and now magazine and newspaper "exclusives".

That's why I find it even more important that any new leads are followed up however bizarre they may seem and that Madeleine is found as the way her parents are behaving is beginning to leave me with a bad taste. Perhaps, it's just me. shrug::

certainly not only you, kathy. And not only recently. The parent´s behaviour has been weird to put it mildly for a long time, and luckily I state this as my very own opinion.

I too find her parents unattractive as people and their media prescence has irritated me too. But can someone tell me where to find the template for appropriate behavior when ones child has been abducted by a paedophile/pornographer/murderer/kidnapper/etc.?

Then I'll judge them.

She was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning. It was interesting, almost in a voyeuristic perspective, to listen to how she has coped so far.

I think there is a podcast on the BBC website if anyone is interested.

Very Sad really that people on here are pointing the finger at the parents, because of the way one behaves! Having had your child murdered or snatched.... :angy:

How the feck is one to take this huge blow? nowt queer as folk, as the old adage goes..........

Nobody is endorsing, they should have done what they actually done, in respect of leaving the kids unattended, but they are paying the ultimate price for that evening of neglect..............

And a very rare endorsement(on my part) of a A-C post too.................

Of Course Merlin, it is a very sensitive topic and I might not be able to find the correct terms in english, and nobody will ever be able to imagine what parents go through this hell himself, no doubt about that. Still, this is a public forum and people are entitled to their opinion. I do not feel like pointing my finger or anything, in fact I very much doubt that the McCanns bother about our opinion at all. Unfortunatly one comes across storys like this now and then in press, as we did have a couple of highly publiceced (spelling boo!) cases in germany too, and all what I have seen (did follow on Sky in length at first) and read over the years I do get an odd feeling here.

Sorry to offend you with this.

The McCanns would have been under suspicion from day 1. My own humble opinion is that they would have been rooted out before now if they really had any involvement.

I thought it was a well known fact that most murders are carried out by somebody known to the victim so of course the police would be very interested in her family.

I wouldn't like to think it was them, or even indeed that she is dead. I really hope Madeleine is found alive and soon.

I personally feel that perhaps the way the Portuguese police handled the investigation to start with was possibly flawed. Probably, due to their lack of experience and never having had to deal with such a media circus that continually wants snippets of information 24/7. Now the British police are involved I would like to think that things really start moving although much crucial evidence may already have been lost.

I am not saying that the way the parents are behaving mean they had anything to do with the abduction, I am saying I am getting tired after 3 months of the media bandwagon. I have no idea as parents how they should " behave "but I don't think I am the only one to find the coverage worldwide , press interviews, exclusives a little OTT at times.

If Merlin wished to re read my post, assuming his comments are directed at me, I said I don't think that the parents had anything to do with Madeleine's disappearance, I just wish she would be found (alive) and soon, so that the parents can somehow rebuild their lives and that of their twins and this media circus, some of which they have helped create, can come to a halt.

So many children disappear year in and year out but unfortunately they don't ever get a fraction of the media coverage that Madeleine has, and so far, apart from raising thousands of pounds, people trying to embezzle money from the parents, and lots of T shirts and ribbons worn at many hundreds of worldwide events, the coverage has not appeared to have helped to find her. Lot's of definite "sightings" though that have to be followed up. If I had a child that had gone missing I suppose I would give my back teeth to have stirred up such a massive media frenzy in the hope of locating my child. I would desperately like to be proved wrong and that the extensive media coverage somehow manages to help find Madeleine - alive!

I am sure they have, Warbler. I just hope they can spot things that the Portuguese have possibly missed. She can't have been taken by aliens in a spaceship surely. Given what the Portuguese have come up with so far (or have admitted to) there is so little to go on.

A fresh pair of Detective's eyes, albeit 3 months later, may (hopefully) work wonders. If they have found traces of Madeleine's blood - at least they have something to work with, as at the moment, the Portuguese have no real witnesses, no way of knowing how she left the apartment, or even a hint of who may have taken her or why.

As you can see, I have every faith in our British detectives solving this..... (stands by to eat words)

No offence taken C-H.... its like you say, everyone is due their own opinion, on anything that is posted! And yes it would be a strange world if everyone thought the same...

And yes I agree the media does attempt to go overboard with their stories....

I just wish I had the ability to write in German as you can write in English......

So yes its perfectly understood, on my part......................

On the news this morning, it seems that there is a story coming out that the Portugese polices are now thinking that it wasn't an abduction, and that Madeleine might have died in the appartment.

A 100 days since she went missing!

It appears the police now have now received the preliminary results of the DNA tests carried out in the UK on the blood found in the apartment and will interviewing the parents seperately. Kate this afternoon and then Gerry McCann tomorrow.

Who knows, Colin? shrug::

It all seems totally bizarre that Madeleine appears to have vanished into thin air. The interviews with the parents are presumably just "procedure" and they are being interviewed as witnesses and not possible suspects. That appears to be the "official" line anyway.

The Portuguese press apparently is rife with accusations against the parents for having something to do with Madeleines disappearance/abduction or murder. We can only guess where these "rumours" to the press are coming from.

They did initially Helen, and I assume that is still the case, but the initial findings from the DNA of the blood tests may have raised further questions/queries that they need to ask the parents about.

Remember, now that the British police are involved, the line of enquiry may now be taking a slightly different route.

Rubbish can be spouted anywhere, Desperate. On the internet, in newspapers, in the pub, around the dinner table in many households, even at work!

Which bit of "shameless rubbish" are you specifically referring to in this instance?
