Margaret Thatcher dead

How was coal going to be "healed"?

Only way to make it competetive and profitable as to slash the miners wages. What else ? Greater automation and loss of jobs perhaps?

Do you think we would have had a strike?

Railways have the highest number of passengers since the 50s. Some catastrophe

I have used the trains almost daily for years. I turned up in the br days not knowing what the fck going to arrive. Now I don't even check. Sw trains for a lot of stick early in but it's spot on now

I do not hate unions at all but for christs sake don't you see that Alan fisher and moss evans simply were the absolute electoral tool thatcher could have hoped for? They destroyed labour as an electoral force for years. Do you remember 1979 at all?

you must live in a different country Clive...yes you do of course..you live down south;)......the trains up here are a disgrace...my experience of train travel goes back to the mid 60 sixties..when you actually got a seat and the prices were real easy to understand

yes i do remember 1979...I also remember the farce of the previous Tory government under Heath..which those tories that quote 79 blaming Labour seem to forget

A lot of them are public services? Jaguar? Wtf. Which is booming now as it happens

The utilities are the only ones that could even be described that way but they've hardly stopped since privtisation so the public is getting its service still as far as I can sw

That's three out of how many

and paying through the nose for big fat profits for the few

Got it wrong ec. Work isn't playing cards in a pallet or standing around a fire at he factory gates waiting for the pie shop to open

"These fat profits for the few."
Have you looked at the shareholder list of these privatised companies, assurance companies, pension funds etc dominate. At the time of sale it was not possible to buy huge amounts at a discount. Most of the union pension schemes have holdings.

what she did to the unions was very unfair

unions defend the workers
and also make the company go so well,
they make the workers to go so happy to work and make them more productive

that was the 70s,80s, at least things are going much better nowdays with Hugos Chavez, Obamas,Zapateros, Gordon Browns etc.....

about the social benefits,
yes she was so bad, society should protect us and pay us ,
it would be great public workers doing the shopping in the supermarket for us and also choosing the school of our children, it would be great the taxes going much higher because politician (specially left side) know how to spend our money much better than us.

and what about companys , big or small ones,
up the taxes it will help them to come to invest,

what is pathetic is so many people here that would have prefered John Lennon ruling the country rather than her.
The national anthem would have been imagine and there would not have a been a war in the Malvinas

Russell Brand wrote a tremendous article re Thatcher in yesterday's Guardian.

It makes very-good reading - even if you're not a natural Guardian type.

Manto = Mantovani, simmo. You can guess the rest! :p

Brilliant:lol: Grass

For my part I will never forgive her for dragging me out of the satanic pits of South Wales and settling me in my new lair in the soft underbelly of England. Within easy reach of the airports so I can fly off to the fleshpots of the World. There have been occasions when I quite fancied her, must be a bit of Reagan in me. My constant fights with the shop stewards and convenors seem a long way off . My coal cutch is full and there is always a bottle of Cristal in the cooler. God bless Maggie ,my angel:whistle:

So it turns out he actually has a brain.

The blunt, pathetic reality today is that a little old lady has died, who in the winter of her life had to water roses alone under police supervision. If you behave like there's no such thing as society, in the end there isn't
