Same jockey.i cant wait for a decent jockey to ride him.i think john Riddington gives the horse no help at all.imo

Apologies if not the correct thread but in the bumper at Arsecot yesterday, Authorised Speed ( they didn't think too hard about the name ) , ran a really good second. Absolutely stunning horse, still not the finished article, but seriously lovely and one I'll keep any eye on for the rest of the season.

Won today 5/6

Another son of Walk in The Park, Walking On Air hasn't been seen out since running second in a Kempton Bumper.

He looked as green as grass that day but there was still a lot to like about the way he travelled before weakening.

Nicky has wrpped him up in cotton wool since

He's only just turned 5 and no doubt his future is over fences but he sould be seen soon in a couple Novice Hurdles before the end of the season

I have him earmarked as one to follow.

Won today 5/6

Tell me about it...I had a rush of blood to the head and backed against him...no idea what I was thinking...not like I can blame the drink as I have been on meds for over a year and can't drink lol...I will put it down to stupidity

I did raise an eyebrow:). They did think he was better than CH before that one ran and still think WOA up there with the other two.

I mentioned this one the other day but forgot to put it on this thread.

Haydock Champion Hurdle Trial - Global Citizen

He and Navajo Pass overdid the pace in this race, shooting 20 lengths clear early and going too fast turning for home for the final time, including a 10.98s furlong. They did ease back a bit along the back straight but I was genuinely surprised that Global Citizen was able to keep on as well as he did. Considering how badly in he was on ORs, I reckon he has responded well to a recent wind op and might be back to something like his older form which included a win in this trial race in 2019 from Silver Streak. He was rated in the mid 150s then and 134 on Saturday.

His immediate future may well depend on how the handicapper views this performance.

We'll find out tomorrow.

What time today can we expect the new handicap ratings?
Interested to see what a horse called El Paso Wood gets for his 34L romp last week with good yardstick Colorado Doc back in second.

Also interested to see what he does with Eclair D'ainay. I am hoping for a 2 or 3lb rise max.

New ratings are usually published online at the BHA site at 8am on Tuesdays and weekly changes to ratings are published in the Weekender the following day.

Irish ratings are published on the authority's own site, also at 8am on a Tuesday, I think, but they also have a page there detailing weekly adjustments.

Anyroads, Global Citizen has only been raised 2lbs for the other day. He is of massive interest in handicaps for me now.

Yes agree re-Global Citizen.

Been on the BHA website just now.

Eclair D'ainay up 4lb to 145 which was what I thought was acceptable. The winner Frero Banbou up 6lb to 140.

El Paso Wood up 10lb to 124.

Phoenix Way up 6lb to 146. Seems fair.

I await the plan Harry. :)

Out of curiosity I had a look and GlobaL Citizen has been tharshed of the same mark in a 0-135 H'cap recently
Absolutely destroed behind Tritonic 64lengths and treated like a tree by a 33/1 CH outsider.

Hardly inspiring but good luck

Sorry guys, too busy being a snowflake on the Whip Regulation thread to notice that Limetree Boy - post #11 - was running today. W11/4

Funambule Sivola

Cheltenham Jan 01
£100k hcap chase, 2,4f+

This was my main bet in the race so I watching it very closely.

My expectation levels were dampened as they jumped off. I was hoping that, with plenty of 2-mile pace in his form, he'd be ridden prominently, something at which jockey Deutsch is very adept, but, alas, he was anchored early. He was in the final three for most of the first circuit and made very gradual ground as they moved out into the country, seemingly travelling very comfortably. When they got to the top of the hill my hopes were starting to rise as he made ground despite a slight error five out. My hopes rose further as he got closer going to out and at this point I was thinking maybe Deutsch had known all along he had the horsepower beneath him but, a shake of the rein and a pathetic wave of the whip in thin air later, he was starting to ease off.

Right now I have no idea if he was being ridden for stamina which, ultimately, he doesn't have, or if he wasn't fit and was looked after accordingly but, either way, I imagine sooner or later we will see what this horse is capable of.

This is the post barjon referred to.

... and this is what I wrote elsewhere on Wednesday evening:

I always like checking out this race which used to be run on the Saturday. I’m happy to ignore King D’Argent, The Big Bite and Moonlighter until they show signs of a return to some kind of form, which virtually halves the field. Gold Des Bois looks a solid marker for a place but vulnerable to an improver so I’m ruling him out too. This leaves Funambule Sivola, Fransham and Before Midnight. The last named might be vulnerable t the younger pair but he’s a good jumper, which this course favours. However, Funambule Sivola holds entries in the Champion Chase and Ryanair, which the others don’t, so he’s clearly thought much better than a 152 horse.

I'm not that keen on 5/4 shots but I do think he's the most likely winner. I've taken him in a double with Vienna Court (odds-on) in the hope of landing a 2/1 winner and Bells Of Peterboro (7/2) for a 15+/1 treble.

I’ll be a tad worried if money comes for Moonlighter. Thought he showed signs of getting it back together in last couple of runs.

Great race that seemed to be going one way then the other with Funambule Sivola getting the upper hand right at the death..CHARLIE DEUTSCH has been riding out of his skin lately

Tiny bit of money for Moonlighter, but the first got him out of the way :) so all was well - just. Nice one Desert.

No great pleasure in a 5/4 shot just scrambling home, though. Almost embarrassed to claim it :)

Safe to remove it from the tracker now. It won't be making any impression in either of its G1 entries at the festival. Not on that form at any rate.
