GOWEL ROAD

Ffos Las 29 November 2020
Welsh Horse Racing Awards 2020 Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)
2m, Class 4, £3,898.80
Going: Soft

On his debut run and despite showing his inexperience at several of the hurdles and in the run-in GOWEL ROAD gave the hot property and heavily odds on favourite - Bear Ghylls - a bit of a fright going down by just over a length with the rest following up in the distance. A very promising run.

Milkwood was very unlucky in Floressa's race yesterday, the Gerry Fielden.

I just watched the replay and hadn't noticed it live but he was very badly hampered two out in the melee, losing ground and momentum and did very well indeed to be closing the first two down late.

He won't go up much, I don't think, and there has to be a chance they'll just put him away or campaign him for the Betfair Hurdle back over CD in February but he's most definitely on a mark that will win a good Saturday handicap.

Thyme White was running all over them until the freak incident caused Cobden to unship!

Would you say he was going better than Milkwood, Maxbet?

I'm not so sure but will have another look. I reckon Milkwood is value for a five-length win.

Both of them were swinging away....Robbie Dunne was following TW so I think he thought he was going to get a tow

For pretty good horsemanship see if you can get to see the 13:18 at Uttoxeter yesterday. Gavin Sheehan lost his irons (kicked out after pin came out of leathers) soon after the start and rode the race with legs dangling to come fourth. Says a lot for Gavin’s skill and quite a lot for the horse - Anythingforlove - to have finished at all let alone in fourth place.

I hope you got to see this. The horse involved - Anythingforlove - runs tomorrow 12:50 Lingfield. Early price 8/11 so maybe she’s not a betting proposition, but she does deserve to win (as does Gavin Sheehan).

And she did

Play New Slots Weekly At Betfair Casino "Newcomers" Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race (GBB Race)
1m7½f, Class 4, £3,249
Going: Heavy

Parramount looked all over the winner when he moved into the lead and went a few lengths in front only to run green and wander about allowing the winner to close up and collar him near the finish. He’ll gain compensation I reckon.

Wait until you see the Carlise from Sunday...

Nah......I was just drunk as a Lord when I posted.

He is one jockey I never call right. He could be in a walkover, and would still get beaten if I had money on him. I don’t know if I jinx him or he jinxes me - but it has to be one or the other.

Post #127 Allmankind runs tomorrow Sandown 1:50 early price 9/4
Post #129 Mister Coffee runs tomorrow Sandown 3:35 early price 15/8

Well, Allmankind won running a blinder. Less said the better about the Henderson duo albeit both placed.

Even Nico can't **** that up on Mister Coffee surely.
I like both Jolly’s Cracked It and Elegantine de Seuil against Mister Coffey. JCI is possibly a bet to lay though and I’ll be watching through my hands up the hill. Elagantine is second time after a wind op and I’m certain she retains ability. Both have excellent 7lb claimers on too so you’d think they’re in it to win it.

FAUSTINOVICK -

2m3½f, Class 4, £4,288.68
Going: Heavy

Faustinovick jumping well, up with the pace and looking the best horse in the race (well he would, he was carrying my money) came to win his race from three out and looked all over the winner until less than fifty yards to go when he couldn’t find anything and got mugged on the post. The winner had come in to 7/2 from 14/1 so I suppose you could say Faustinovick did well to give it such a scare. The rest were 23 lengths behind. I won’t be long getting my money back.

That race just finished at Kelso...

Castletown was never asked a question at any stage despite never being far off the pace. There's another meeting at Kelso just before the new year. That's probably the target but he carries a health & wealth warning: he's never won a race.

IVILNOBLE

Plumpton 7 December 2020
Sky Sports Racing attheraces.com Handicap Chase
3m1½f, Class 4, £4,288.68
Going: Soft

A low level race, but it looked like Charlie Mann special gone wrong. Ivilnoble was down in class, bowled along in front and was still leading a breakaway threesome approaching two out. He was looking good as accelerators went down, but he made a right mess of the fence and stumbled very badly on landing, losing all momentum and rhythm. He got going again, but the two birds had flown and he was allowed to plod in third with the next 22 lengths away. If he re-appears in a similar race they may get their money back.
