Noted in running

What price is Duc De Bourbono to be trying his best today on the run before it's eligible for a mark?

Think we might be seeing Duc De Bourbon in the thread for horses that are no longer with us.

Couldn’t stand up and was in some distress.

LILLY PEDLAR

Taunton. 10 December 2020
Racing To School Novices' Hurdle (Novices' Championship Hdl Series Qualifier) (GBB Race) (Div II)
2m½f, Class 4, £3,768.84
Going: Good To Soft

It’s not often you see a Henderson horse at 33/1 and although she was unconsidered she ran a decent race. Never in with a chance against the hot odds-on favourite who had been heavily backed throughout the morning she finished a 9 length second with all the rest in the far distance.

In morning bulletins Henderson had said “She has strengthened up a lot this season and has been doing everything right at home. The ground and track should suit nicely.” so there should have been the glimmerings of support.

She showed a bit of promise on her first try over hurdles, but I doubt she will see 33/1 again.

Thank goodness - it looked terminal. If he’s ok he’ll get his handicap mark which was the prime objective today.

He jumps and travels beautifully, in both races he has been allowed to learn (passing horses) with the jockey never really looking to get competative..He has looked bearly and as if he could come on each time....Struck me as a non-trier the first time I clapped eyes on him!

LIEUTENANT ROCCO

Cheltenham 12 December 2020
Jockey Club Cheltenham And SW Syndicate Novices' Chase (GBB Race)
2m4½f, Class 2, £12,820
Going: Soft

Rated a stone behind the principals Lieutenant Rocco led the field a merry dance on his second go over fences and he made the pretty high quality Fusil Raffles work hard for his win with Chantry House behind him (although CH didn’t perform). This was a promising run even though only a few opponents. Will need to see how he progresses from here

MESSIRE DES OBEAUX

Wincanton 15 December 2020
Like Racing TV On Facebook Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race)
2m4f, Class 3, £7,017.84
Going: Soft

Messire des Obeaux was a Grade 1 hurdler some three or four years ago, but had only been seen out once since in almost three years. You wouldn’t have known it. He took lengths out of the field with superb jumping and won quite comfortably. If the problems he’s had are behind him, then there’s a lot more to come.

I’d completely missed that he was running today. A real favourite of mine in 2017 and delighted to see him back. Let’s hope his troubles are indeed behind him

Post #82 She’s a Novelty runs tomorrow 12:40 Newbury, early price 12/1. - She’ll need to have improved and is said to hate heavy ground. Only soft as yet, but the weather forecast is dire.

4th 7/1 - she gets h’cap mark after this

ANOTHER VENTURE

Ludlow 16 December 2020
Tanners Claret Handicap Chase
3m, Class 3, £7,212.78
Going: Soft

In pre-race comments Kim Bailey said he’d had difficulty preparing the horse for this and that he’d be all the better for it. As it turned out he made nearly all the running, jumped well and drew clear towards the end, staying on and going away. If Bailey’s words are right he may well stay ahead of the handicapper for a bit.

I thought Admiral’s Secret ran well in the previous race to continue progression from last season. Could be called the winner from some way out IMO but the handicapper will have his say I’m sure

ALLART

Ascot 18 December 2020
Sky Bet Noel Novices' Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race)
2m3f, Class 1, £14,807
Going: Soft

Allart was thrown in at the deep end for his chasing debut. Only a small field, but legitimate Grade 2 competition. He raced in the rear looking comfortable and jumping ok, although a bit laboured sometimes. Approaching the last Fiddler on the Roof was his only competition, but he breezed past him on the run-in and won comfortably. With six letters in his name which starts AL you won’t need to do to much editing to pencil in a new stable star chaser - could be, could be.

I’m in love with Everglow. I can’t remember the last time I turned the telly on and my jaw dropped and I just stood there gazing in adoration throughout the race the way I did when I set eyes on Everglow. Can’t wait to follow his career. What a stamp of a horse. Loved My Drogo too.

Substitute Everglow with Victoria Coren when she first appeared on TV...

FAWSLEY SPIRIT

Ascot 19 December 2020
Foundation Developments Novices' Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)
2m7½f, Class 4, £5,588.28
Going: Heavy

Having run very well in his previous race Fawsley Spirit was expected to run very well again if he could handle the ground. Handle it he could and he ran a cracker of a race only to fall at the last when a length ahead of the winner with the rest well behind. To rub salt in the wounds he faces an upward shift in his handicap, but he could well deal with that if it’s not too harsh.
