Novice Chasers 2011-12

The ground was good when he won the Fort Leney so I can't see a worry there. He should be second favourite and I've topped up. Honestly thought he'd be 5s when I checked the odds after watching the race.

SS 9/4
PC 3/1

Not that many people are getting carried away seemingly. Peddlers has to be the worst priced horse of the entire Festival. I think Al Ferof and Cue Card are both bigger dangers to the winner.

Who in God's name is backing Peddlers? 3/1 is absolutely shocking. I did post on here that I thought he would get beaten at Kempton and still win the Arkle but it takes a leap of faith of gargantuan proportions to give any rational reasoning for him to turn around the pasting he got. SS at 9/4 is looking tempting before Friday.

The market price reflect the fact that Pricewise tipped up First Lieutenant?

I had him in my mind at about 16/1 each way.Got the post for the first time in 2 weeks today and nearly choked when I saw 7/1.
I'd be fairly confident Davy will ride him.

Jesus...9/4 would make me tempted to back the hype machine.

I would have thought he'd be close to evens given the hot air here and on other media.

I am already on Al Ferof 7s or 8s, but I might have a lash on Sprinter Sacre at 9/4.

The points I made earlier in this thread were based on prices of something like SS 2/1 and PC 5/1.

Closer to the day, and the prices much closer makes SS's case more compelling.

Was away today and just watched the race now. Very impressive form him digging out his own pace and finishing like he did. His jumping was excellent when required and he only jumped a couple to the right when under no pressure. Bookmakers were underwhelmed and Fenton's post race comments seem to be playing down the possibility of the RSA due to ground concerns. He is one of my pivotal ante post Cheltenham horses and I strongly believe he would be a very serious contender if they let him take his chance.

He really is a savage jumper, isn't he?

I'd be inclined to take a pretty positive view of the form for all that they didn't go a great gallop given Lambro's (who shaped better than the result suggests and will surely be better given a stiffer test) Naas form with Flemenstar looks pretty solid and Call The Police came into it unexposed over fences.

Call The Police might be one for the Jewson actually.

He is a very good jumper, but he went a touch right at fences I thought. I prefer to see my novice chasers jump straight as an arrow.

Ideally you would prefer them to jump arrow straight - the new camera position giving us head on shots of the back straight did show a preference to go to the right but when he needed to over the last couple he jumped them very quickly and got away from them faster than his rivals.
Call the Police ran a big race but Sir Des Champs was impressive last time at Leopardstown and is my Jewson horse.

I think people are going overboard about his performance (how good is Call the Police), his jumping (like I said) and his future (I have seen many more impressive novices).

Clearly he should improve on Sunday's performance for a faster pace and for an extra 4f, but I think he will need to.

People just love Fenton, that is my explanation of to the hype on here.

I do agree about Sir Des Champs. I was having a right look at the Cheltenham markets yesterday and if I knew he were a definite runner in the Jewson, I would be all over him like a rash.

I'm a big fan of Sir Des Champs too Bar. Mullins seems keen to run him in the RSA, presumably in opposition to the desires of Gigginstown given their apparent strength for the race already. It must be said that I agree with Mullins but I suspect he'll end up in the Jewson regardless.

I believe Call the Police needs cut in the ground to be seen at his best. Hope to see him prove me wrong at Cheltenham all the same, as Ive been a fan of him from day1.

What price if he hacks up Friday? 11/8??

Cue Card out of Fridays race...from SportingLife.com

CARD MISSES NEWBURY TEST
Cue Card is set to miss Friday's Betfair Super Saturday Chase at Newbury.
The six-year-old was due to have his final prep run for the Arkle in the rescheduled Grade Two heat, which is better known as the Game Spirit Chase.
However, jockey Joe Tizzard tweeted: "Cue Card misses Friday's Game Spirit Chase."

Given the way he won the Martin Pipe last year i'd have to agree but i'd expect to see him in the Jewson as well.

Frankly I don't care too much as long as they decide to send Bog Warrior for the Arkle and overrule Tony Martin!!!

Sprinter sacre 8/13
Hold fast 100/30
Zaynar 7/1
French opera 9/1
I'm so lucky 10/1
Name your price Bar.
Don't normally back odds on shots but this is the proverbial penalty kick.Cue Card being pulled out will preserve the price of SS between now and the festival.SS is expected to hack up now on Friday and with the Money (god knows where from) for peddlers,IMO they are going to be much nearer each other in the betting come the day.well I feel like I'm getting value anyway!!

Ps well done to anyone who got 5/4

I still keep expecting WH to void it lol.

I had a few antepost bets last week, singles and multiples with Hills, Stan James and Paddy Power. The bets with Hills and SJ on this race are still open whereas PP bets got voided. I can't be arsed to check the Antepost T&C's with each but I thought it was normal procedure that if the entries were re-opened then the bets were voided? Not that I'm complaining:whistle::D

They will only void it if he wins. I was expecting it to be voided all weekend too and again on Monday when it was re-opened but not so far :ninja:
