Novice Chasers 2017/2018

He's pretty much obliged to ride Death Duty and others for Gordon Elliot as that is where his bread is buttered.

Davy must be thinking he'll get a lot closer to Footpad on Death Duty as he did on the very moderate Brelade

Wouldn't give him a hope in hell of winning the Juvenile but he should go close on Paloma Blue his 1st mount could be anything but is currently 20/1

Footpad is such a beautiful jumper of a fence; rarely failing to meet one on a stride, and a real armchair ride for his jockey. Munir/Souede need their heads examined if they forgo the Arkle, in favour of the JLT, because this horse has all the attributes needed to win the 2m novice-chase championship.....and nothing Sceau Royal did in Sandown, changes that fact.

All over the Arkle winner for me.

Dounikos was a good winner of the 2m 4f novice chase at Limerick 14:10 yesterday.
Watching the replay again today, he was coming strong with every chance even if Al boum photo had stayed up.
Commentator called it as "Dounikos a very fortunate winner there" - And I really don't think he was.
2/2 over fences now and looks like one who is much better over the larger obstacles. I like his economical jumping style and love the way he lands running with momentum from the back of his fences. Will likely be underrated NTO and I'll be backing him over 2.5 - 3 miles on soft ground for sure.

Agree think he'd have won comfortable and in a way a nice form boost for Tycoon Prince today who is backable at 9/2. Have to be slightly afraid of Bunk of Early but he is a bit short.

I also like Cyrname in the Wayward Lad. Good form behind Bigmartre at Newbury and this track will suit him more.

The size and scope of the Mullins horse isn't really what formed my opinion Granger. More to do with a view that Dounikos will be underrated and over priced nto, which represents value to me, whether he faces al boum photo or not. If you watch yesterday's race again, Dounikos made up ground on abp between final 2 fences and they landed simultaneously over the last. I just don't think Dounikos was as lucky as the likely general perception yesterday.

Fall very reminscent of The Biters at Kempton, then kicked a couple of times when on the floor.

Hopefully any damage is superficial, and strictly short-term. Had jumped and travellled great to that point.

Thought he gave the first one going away from the stands a bit of a belt, hard to judge from that awful camera angle admittidally.

We got the Dipper coming up. Surprised Nicky doesn't have an entry for this as he won it with Oscar Whisky 3 back and Whisper last year.

Always travelling well Willoughby Court had every right to beat Yanworth who got so far behind 3 out Sprinter Sacre wouldn't have had problems catching him.

Alan King was apparently fuming at those who suggested he was wasting his time and should send Yanworth back hurdling and tomorrow I think his rage will be justified.

If Barry can keep him together and there's no one better at presenting a horse at a fence he's getting a very precious 5lbs

A clear round and I reckon Yanworth will eat them alive tomorrow.

Yanworth 3/1 First nap of 2018

I’d have Yanworth in the RSA. His jumping will cost him in the JLT.

I reckon he's a bit dumb and will never be the best jumper in the world

It's one thing beating an average field like todays and winning the JLT or even the RSA

Have to agree though the RSA might be the better choice but I wouldn't back him at this stage

He’ll need to jump better to win an RSA also. Made a poor shape at several today and it was only the considerable engine the horse clearly possesses that won him the day together with the weight concessions and the stopping blunder by WC. Sizing Tennessee was also conceding 3lb so emerges the best horse in the race
