Novice Chasers 22/23

This is geting mixed up...to date for me Appreicate It is the most likely Cheltenham winner........all we need to know now is where WPM decides to run him

Get My Drift was beaten 15 Lengths by Appreciate It on Monday. He was head in front of Colonel mustard the time before. A fit Colonel Mustard was pulverized by El Fabiolo who never came out of a canter.....

Find it hard on all evidence to understand your reasoning, if you get my drift....

Sir Gerhard has suffered another setback, and is going to be out “for a few weeks”.

CPS sound pretty pessimistic about him making the Festival: “Who knows?”.

For anyone who gives them credence, I note that El Fabiolo was given an RPR of 159 for Fairyhouse. That would be the same as Jonbon for his chasing debut and 5 higher than Appreciate It.

I'm not a fan of RPRs but I do sympathise with their having to rate novice debuts. In this case, you'd assume that it's done via Colonel Mustard but it's only guesswork.

Entries made today for the Festival novice chases..

Of the Mullins battalion, only Saint Roi of the 2m chasers is not also entered in the Turners. Kilcruit is not entered in the Arkle but is in the Turners, and does have intriguing entries in the Brown Advisory and NH Chase.

Also worth stating that NJ Henderson did remember to declare Jonbon for the Arkle.

I like him for the BA and this must be a ground play. I think he'll get away with good to soft at Cheltenham but presume Gordo doesn't fancy the Leopardstown surface.

Dusart v Appreciate it

I do know it is marginal but think there is a small % more chance that Dusart could be a wow horse

I think it’s a very small chance. Very highly thought of, but has had his problems with back and wind surgery. After the hurdle pipe opener in December I thought he would have been ready for the Cotswold last time to show whether he was destined for the top table. Didn’t jump too well and pulled up, so I think the high hopes for him are dashed. I suppose there’s a chance that the poor performance was down to his jumping which may be improved if it’s not down to the back problems, but I’m not counting on it. Shame really, I hope I’m wrong.

Irish Arkle could be one of the races of the season if they all run. Following are declared:

Appreciate It
Banbridge
Dysart Dynamo
El Fabiolo
Flame Bearer
Saint Roi
Visionarian
Fil D'Or

does seem willie doesn't have a clue who his best horses are and what trips they'd run going forward. always felt Appreciate It would step up in trip for the spring festivals but if he wins this i'm not sure.

also think if you're a Jonbon backer you're pretty happy to see him doing this.
