Paddy Power Gold Cup

I cannot understand this at all. Leading chance if he runs.

The market is top heavy with the higher rated horses (walkon apart) and I'll be looking for something lower down the handicap now. Havingotascoobydo had a reasonable pipe opener the other weekend and I'm kind of intrigued that Ghizao is still with Nicholls. I'd have half expected that horse to be jettisoned after a disappointing 2011/12.

At a guess I'd say it's the owner request he goes for the King George (Entertaining business friends and all that jazz) I just can't see Martin Keighly over facing him like that, it has to be the nuttiest decision ever he simply doesn't have the speed it takes to win a King George or even get placed.

Havingotascoobydo did finish 2nd to Nicky Henderson's Thanks For That at the meeting last season so it's perfectly possible he could run well off a low weight.

the handicapper has been generous with FNS

I imagine they will try then the big hcp at cheltenham in the Bula meeting

Even without the impost (11lbs actually), Cheltenham's 2.5m would probably be at the very top of his stamina range - at the level he is now obliged to operate.

Weights out ten days before the race. This is the sort of thing these lazy pricks at racing for change should be looking at. Should be three weeks.

Hmmn.

Al Ferof introduced by the sponsors at 14/1? And no bigger than 20 to back on Betfair, with nary a sheckel being requested?

The plot continues to thicken. :ninja:

I was hoping Martin Keightley would sens Champion Court for this but he's had a rush of blood to the head and he goes elsewhere before heading for the King George:blink: I wish him luck with that project.

Word locally is that he will run in a race AT KEMPTON to see if he acts on the course before committing to the KG and if he runs well in that would go for the Gold Cup, otherwise the Ryanair.

What's the max number of runners?

I like Notus de la tour at first glance but I wouldn't be having a bet yet.

There doesn't seem that many progressive types lurking at the bottom of the ratings. Walkon could be one but I don't trust him over fences. Happy with my position on For Non Stop and he should place if he gets round at least.

One lurking right at the bottom of the weights & possibly the most unexposed in the field is Triolo D'Alene. Henderson talked him up for the Novices Hcap Chase that Hunt Ball won at the festival.

Is that the horse BG said was a stone well in and Anthony Honeyball instructed his jockey to scream "Barry where are you" during the race?!

Champion Court bypasses the Paddy Power & now heads for Ascot's Amlin Chase. Havingotascoobydo also misses the PP & has options at Ascot.
