TRIPLE Group 1 winner and sire Dashing Blade was euthanased earlier this week due to neurological problems. He was 26.
Bred by Littleton Stud and trained by Ian Balding, Dashing Blade was a top-class juvenile, winning on his debut and rounding off that 1989 campaign with victories in the Group 1 National Stakes and Dewhurst Stakes - the former earning him the title of champion two-year-old in Ireland.
Returning at three, the son of Elegant Air bounced back from a disappointing run in the 2,000 Guineas to land the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud. Collecting a Group 1 place next time out at Munich, Dashing Blade bowed out in fine style when winning the top-flight Gran Premio d'Italia at San Siro.

Toronado dislocated soft palate in International Stakes yesterday. Will have an operation but should be back in the Autumn
