Road to the Champion Hurdle 19/20

Is Buveur D’Air definitely out for the season?

Its all gone quiet. And the last article I read he was recovering well. Let everyone pile money into everything else, then chuck in the big dog for one last dance?

Or am I just wishful thinking?

Nothing would surprise me where Hendo is concerned.

To mention their line of he’s coming along well. He’ll suddenly come on better than expected in the next couple of weeks.

When’s the supplementing stage? Expect more lines in the next week or so I’d imagine. if it is indeed Boov you are referring to.

Might be worth watching the market and Epatante. Surely she’d be on the drift if he’s to come in.

I'm not saying I know the horse. Someone has told me there will be an eye catching supplement coming up and well it can only be the Champion Hurdle.

I got all excited for a minute then. Thanks for sharing. Can’t be Melon as that’s more obvious than eye catching. Not a chance Willie sends Benie. We’ll all find out soon enough.

Long wait to find out.

Scratchings deadline February 11, £22,500 supplementary stage & six-day confirmation stage March 4, final declaration 10.00am, March 8, maximum number of runners 26

Pic D'Orhy maybe?

Wouldn't be a serious fancy for me at this stage but I suppose someone might view it as an eye-catching supplement.

Chances are rumours will find a way of leaking before March.

Im sure it will. The field is so weak right now that the 22.5k fee looks a bargain.

I'm having eyebrow raising thoughts that they might supplement Buveur back in - I backed it at 70 on Betfair on the basis that such a thing might happen - but that bet has now been settled as a loser. Which is a bit of a kick in the nuts.

I remember saying on here somewhere a while back they shouldn't have ruled him out. Not if he was mending so well. But what do I know.

Sweet Jaysus. Imagine betting Twitters reaction when Epatante drifts to 6s and Boover gets supplemented.

Henderson would get absolutely loads of stick.

If the horse were supplemented they would have to unsettle your bet.

I didn't think they could settle a bet before the event actually takes place, other than in special concessions, eg paying out on Liverpool winning the league, as a PR stunt.

I hope Slim is right and they reinstate your bet.

Speaking of the speculation regarding BD'A, doesn't Henderson have history for this kind of thing?

What was the situation back in the day regarding shenanigans with Binocular?

Ruled out in mid February, won in March! Ruled him out due to a bsck problem or being lame, but the specialist didn’t find anything.

Before my time of watching racing, so I couldn’t say. My Grandad who was a bookie was always insistent on a couple of trainers/owners being a crooked as they come. Since I’ve started watching myself Hendo certainly strikes me as one!!

The Vautour ‘Gold Cup or nothing’ comment by owner and Chair of a bookie Rich Ricci takes some beating though. We’ll never know, but that absolutely stunk to me.

Blogger posted on Twitter last night that he heard a ‘shrewdie’ say Envoi Allen goes here. Think he actually holds an entry an all, so won’t need supplementing.
