Royal Ascot 2022

Enjoyed today, really good quality which has been the theme of this Flat season.

Sat:
The Jersey isn't a race I'd normally bet in but Alflaila tempts me. He was really impressive in a handicap over c/d in May off 102. I tracked the horses in 2nd and 3rd (to mixed results) and he's the biggest danger to a solid looking Noble Truth (who did beat him comfortably last year). Crowley has chosen to ride a different Shadwell but he wasn't on for that win so I don't care.

I've already lost ap on AL Aasy in the Hardwicke and the race has a nice ew shape so I'm gonna have a dutch on Third Realm (won well last time) and Mostahdaf (who's form I do like this year). I've never rated Broome and Solid Stone is a non stayer.

I'm on Dragon Symbol ap at 20s in the Jubilee (now 40s!!). Presume the Aussie will win. I might have a small ew on Great Ambassador.

In the Wokingham I'm already on First Folio ap and I've added Silver Samurai from the bottom of the weights. He's finished like a pure rocket his last two wins.

Roger Varian about Third Realm via the Racing Post. "He's been declared but he'd need storms to develop."

Please not 7 runners!

It's some draining week. It was hard to watch a race at Down Royal this evening after a week of high class racing.

Will Trueshan run? Will be a right betting heat in the last if not.

Aye.

Get the beer money for tomorrow night and get smashed that's what I say.

We desperately need a forum get together where we can do this collectively, and raise a glass for Colin and Roger aswell.

But only on the condition we don't talk about Brexit or the next fecking Scottish referendum.

Looks like Gigilo has found ond of the best bets on the card tomorrow with Honiton in the 5.35. Anyone strong on anything else in the race or on the card for that matter.

I find it interesting that A.Fabre has only 1 horse running all week in the last.
Nothing to say it will stay on form but it seems strange to send just one if they dont fancy it.

The Barstewards guys think the Boughey horse is group class.

I am thinking the same, Outsider. He is by Gleneagles who had loads of good form on good to firm. I think there's a decent chance Timour has been targetted at this race.

Urban Artist is interesting but has no form on good to firm.

I will take a chance on Timour.

All three Godolphin runners are making their handicap debuts in this. Not sure if they allow proper competition or not. Frankie didn’t seem to put in a great deal of effort on Aldous Huxley, 11/10 fav, fending off New London in Newmarket Class 4 Novice where Godolphin had 1,2,3. Next time, again with Frankie up, AH (7/4) was chinned on the line by a Spencer swoop on Lionel in a Class 1 Listed at Goodwood.

This time the young wunderkind is aboard (he’s 7/24 over the last 14 days) and I reckon he’s worth the full 5lbs of his allowance. If Godolphin are playing fair then I think AH will come out on top and if they are favouring one it’s likely to be him anyway. Win, win really - except for the other 13 runners, of course.:D

So it’s Aldous Huxley @ 9/1 for me.

PS: Whoops! They’ve got Blue Trail in as well, not his debut, but he’s got the white hat.

The two I have down as possibly very well handicapped on this year's form are Sun King and Knightswood and I really should be backing both. I can't not back the latter; Knightswood is just along the A82 from where I was brought up and I worked in the pub there for a while. The brothers will make my life hell if it wins and I haven't backed it knowing I rate it. Stupid reason but there you go.

The other one I like is Bushfire who got in when Jimi Hendrix came out. Hughie Morrison is brilliant at targeting these handicaps and I'm assuming he's kept this one back to preserve its mark. It is my main bet in the race each-way at 20/1.

Reckon Audience 3.05, got outsped by Monaadah latest, and should reverse the form on this stiffer track (14/1 currently), but what do I know, this week?

Hurricane Lane looks a laydown in the Hardwicke, but there may be rule 4's throughout the day, unless the rain arrives - little forecast until 8.00pm, according to the Beeb.

I liked Sun King aswell to start with but you have talked me into Bushfire so with him now. No pressure, DO!

Why not back both? If the odds are wrong (that's a matter of opinion) there's no harm in having both run for you in exchange for less of a profit.

I'm just doing a sporting-bet type each way super heinz on the seven races today, although I could have a separate saver on Sun King if I wanted to you are probably right.

Aye I think Living Legend is an each way bet with 8 runners but even I concede he won't get near the Hurricane if the favourite runs to within 10 pounds of his own form.

7 or 8s for a place would do for me.

Just hoping the eight go to post. I have a feeling Roger Varian might scratch Third Realm if there is absoloutely no rain today at Ascot.

Not easy to predict where the pace will be this week, but I reckon it should be high in the Wokingham, which would suit Blackrod ideally.
Put away for this after winning a strongly run contest at Newmarket in the style of a horse that should thrive on this stiffer track.
17/2 B365 - 7 places.

I’ve been watching Inspiral again. It really was a crushing performance and it wasn’t against a gaggle of no-hopers either. I think she will rule the roost until she retires. That said, I can’t help thinking that it was the horse that got Frankie out of trouble rather than the other way round. Maybe I do him a disservice and he knew full well what he had under him, but I shudder to think what stick would have come his way had she been beaten.

The Wokingham is not the sort of race I get involved with but I am interested in the fact that Ryan Moore takes the ride on the top-weight Rohaan for David Evans. The combination were successful last year and Ryan has ridden him twice on the all-weather at Lingfield and out in the desert sands. Probably reading too much into it!

How about a repeat of last years race with Fresh and Rohaan fighting out the finish?

Or should I stick to the babies.

I can't get over her not starting at 'carpet'.
