Royal Ascot

The Gold Cup is a decent renewal this year but nonetheless, I've had one of my biggest bets of the year on Shwaiman at 100/1.

I've been waiting for this horse to run in a group race on fast ground since he absolutely gagged up at Doncaster last year. His fast ground times have been exceptional and he just hasn't had his ground since then but has still run well. He travels exceptionally well in his races and was staying on at the death in the Chester Cup from his high draw in not ideal ground. Unexposed over the trip still, he's never a 100/1 poke.

Good luck with Shwaiman, I won't spoil it for you by following you in. Just a couple of small speculative punts and an each way double on Magnus Maximus and Alex My Boy.

Things are going well so far withe The Wow Sign and Anthem Alexander doing the business. If it wasn't Ascot I'd probably rest on my laurels but what the hell!!!!.

This machine of AOB's looks the business in the Norfolk. I only just looked at him for the first time 30 minutes ago so I missed the boat re the price. There's more than one way to skin a cat so I've decided to go for an EW bet and I may have found a bet to nothing on the machine.

Tom Dascombe's Snapshot won the looked like a bit of a nothing maiden at Haydock but when the gates opened 4 of the 6 runners looked like sure fire future winners.

The 5th who was in the firing line most of the way before weakening was just pipped at Musselburough on his next outing ad the 3rd Pallister won a good race at York the other day.

There were 4 in line at the furlong marker and as the 2nd and 5th weakened the fav Roger Varian Malja who looked a beast of thing quickened to head Snapshot and it looked all over bar the shouting. There was a lot to like about the way Snapshot responded with less than half a furlong to go he suddenly picked up out of the blue and turned a half length deficit in to a 3/4 length advantage in a matter of strides.

He look a great deal better than the 24 he is currently on the machine and I'm willing to take the chance with normal improvement he'll go very close here and could even cause a major upset.

My plan is to back him to win and to place. At anywhere between 25-30 and 4 and 5.

I certainly can't see him being out of the 1st 4 and as you can bet 4 places and he's around 2.7 If he happens to be beaten into 4th place I will make sure I have covered my entire bet.

If he finishes 5th so shoot me.

Snap Shots EW plus saver

Timeform see this as one of the most competive races at the meeting. They coudl be right but I certanly don't see it that way. Cannoch Chase looks in a different league to this lot in what to me is a poor race by Royal Ascot standards. He loks like something to bet on at any price you can get.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't win very easily.

If I am ahead I'll be having abet on Jamie Spencer (Gawd help me) in the on Inchila in the Ribblesdale. He looks like he's on the best horse in the race and if he doesn't mess up she should just about win it.

G/L all

My main 2 for today are
Cloudscpe and Vazira

Leading Light is not much of a price but should win

Zarwan and Born In Bombay are the main ones for the Brittania

Zee Zeeley interesting in the last

good card

First race I think the Great War wins but Mind of Madness looks too big a price. His run on Tuesday was all wrong and provided he's ok from that he looks a nice place only bet at 5/2.

following on from earlier postings today

i'd just like to say i've had a great Ascot..i've backed every winner so far...which is hard to believe i know..but on top of that last year i also backed every winner..when yer lucks in eh?

Looks interesting, thanks for the heads up.

What price do you have him at?

And what do you make of Leading Light? My own thoughts are he is a class or 2 down on other horses Ballydoyle have ran in this. Looks a poor-ish renewal overall..

You've got to say (well, I've got to say), Frankie in that kind of form is a huge boon for the industry. Simon Holt called it early - they were obviously going far too fast up front but the wee man and Ryan Moore were the only ones to keep their head.

Well done EC1. The logical call, nice objectivity.

Obriens yard stinking! I have Leading Light ante post at 4's. Confidence quickly evaporating. I've covered on Royal Diamond.
