The 2015 2-y-o thread.

Newbury 1.10

DASHING APPROACH (13/2) gave the impression of being "a bit of a madam" when third at Salisbury earlier this month - flashing her tail, pulling hard and hanging in the closing stages, she is a New Approach half-sister to, Barshiba, the winner of two Group 2s over 12f.
HARDINGTON (25/1), making his debut, is a Fastnet Rock half-brother to a couple of smart American performers.

Wolverhampton 8.10 - a couple of longshots here:

PALISADE (14/1) is a Fastnet Rock half-brother to Windshear who ran fourth in last year's St. Leger - trained by Sir Mark, so who knows - a winner or tailed off last??

INWITHACHANCE (50/1) and a very unlikely winner but he is a gelded half-brother to Ransom O' War, a Group 1 winner in Germany.

Gowran 1.55

BEST IN THE WORLD (10/3), making her debut is a full-sister to Found, the winner of the Group 1 Marcel Boussac at Longchamp last October and second to Golden Horn in the Irish Champion Stakes last week.

Gowran 2.25

BLACK SEA (15/2), having his first run is a Galileo half-brother to Father Christmas, third in this season's Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes.
HOUSESOFPARLIAMENT (16/1), another debutant, is a Galileo half-brother to Foundry, second to Telescope in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur of 2013.

A total of 4 FSS wins since Friday:

On Friday Donjuan Triumphant (4/1) was a 3 1/4 lengths winner for top5-FSS Dream Ahead and on Saturday Storm Rising (4/5f) won by 3 lengths for top5-FSS Canford Cliffs.

Additionally, there were 2 more FSS wins on Saturday when Maestro Mac (4/1) was a 3/4 length winner for Roderic O'Connor and Madame Barker (6/1) was a 1 1/4 lengths winner for Frozen Power.

In brief, the standing at the top of the FSS stats shows Zoffany with a 28-26 lead over Canford Cliffs, far behind are Dream Ahead on 16, Lilbourne Lad and Poet's Voice on 14 each, the rest nowhere.

Today there are 10 2-y-o races - Hamilton (1), Kempton (4), Leicester (3) and Navan (2) - today's top5-FSS runners are:

Hamilton
1.50 Canford Cliffs Cuppatee 7/1

Kempton
2.40 Lilbourne Lad Somers Lad 66/1, Poet's Voice Four Poets 14/1 & Gimlet 14/1
3.10 Poet's Voice Calliope 28/1 & You Wish 80/1
3.40 Poet's Voice Dramatic Voice 20/1 & Polymnia 20/1

Leicester
2.30 Poet's Voice Electric Voice 9/1
3.00 Canford Cliffs Hitman 22/1, Poet's Voice Arab Poet 12/1

Navan
1.45 Zoffany Gainmill Girl 16/1
2.15 Canford Cliffs Ocean Tides 14/1

Strange, an ordinary racing Monday and a total of 8 Poet's Voices are gonna run today. I'd be surprised if there's a winner amongst them today, the large number may be of help for PV though.

Enjoy!

Looking forward to seeing how the sister to Found gets on.

A good debut coming 1/2 length 2nd behind the experienced 11/8f Rayisa, D.Weld's horse a further 2 1/2 lengths back in third.

There was quite a bit of market support for her, too, so that the opening odds of 5/2 shortened to 15/8.

I think the form will turn out well as Best In The World did not go down without a fight. The race will have brought her on and may be the next step is the Dubai Fillies Mile (Gr.1) at Newmarket on October 9th.

AP has got plenty of entries in this one though, so it's a matter of wait and see whether the step up in class is not too early and which of his candidates AP would think it's best to send over.

Kempton 3.40

SECRET SENSE (13/2), making her debut is a half-sister to Secret Gesture, second to stable-mate Talent in the 2013 Oaks.

Leicester 3.00

Navan 1.45

AFTER DAWN (11/4) an un-raced Invincible Spirit half sister to, Ectot (RPR 118) winner of last year's Group 2 Prix Niel, and, Most Improved (RPR 118) winner of the 2012 Group 1 St. James's Palace Stakes.

Yes was a nice debut without being asked too much of a question.

Yesterday there was no FSS winner.

Today there are 8 2-y-o races - Beverley (2), Kempton (4), and Lingfield (2) - today's top5-FSS runners are:

Beverley
2.00 Canford Cliffs Rio's Cliffs 11/8f

Kempton
5.40 Lilbourne Lad Window Shopping 25/1
6.10 Lilbourne Lad Lily Ash 8/1
6.40 Canford Cliffs Canford Belle 5/1, Lilbourne Lad Bourne Symphony 14/1
7.10 Canford Cliffs Canford Star 14/1, Lilbourne Lad Bambino 5/1 & Jewellery Quarter 18/1

Lingfield
2.20 Dream Ahead Telegram 16/1, Lilbourne Lad Altarsheed 5/6F
2.50 Zoffany Papa Luigi 5/1

A couple of FSS favourites today, may be Rio's Cliffs 11/8f could give Canford Cliffs another winner, Zoffany's sole chance today is Papa Luigi 5/1.

Enjoy!

Both of today's FSS favourites obliged.

First of all Rio's Cliffs was a 10/3 winner for Canford Cliffs. The odds were considerably higher than what the Sporting Life posted this morning, nevertheless Rio's Cliffs beat the 15/8 favourite by 1 1/2 lengths.

Twenty minutes later the 5/4f Altarsheed cruised to a 6 lengths victory for Lilbourne Lad.

These two wins result in Canford Cöiffs sitting 1 win behind Zoffany who is still up by 28-27.

Same applies for the fight for third place where Lilbourne Lad is now 1 win behind Dream Ahead's 16 wins and 1 win in front of Poet's Voice's 14 wins.

Still a couple of 2-y-o races pending for today, the above mentioned horses were the likeliest winners though.

Not really to be expected - Canford Belle, the 10/1 3rd favourite won by 3 1/2 lengths during the evening card at Kempton and gave Canford Cliffs the 28th win of the season to draw level with Zoffany.

As posted before, yesterday there were 3 FSS winners in total - 2 for Canford Cliffs and 1 for Lilbourne Lad.

The overall standing between Canford Cliffs and Zoffany is 28 each - so the decision for the FSS championship starts from scratch and will be decided in just over 40 days of 2-y-o racing in UK and/or Ireland up to November, 7th.

Today there are 13 2-y-o races - Goodwood (2), Kempton (4), Naas (3) and Redcar (4) - today's top5-FSS runners are:

Goodwood
2.35 Zoffany Sark 20/1

Kempton
5.20 Canford Cliffs Whitecliff Park 16/1, Poet's Voice Patanjali 16/1
5.55 Canford Cliffs Lulworth 18/1

Naas
3.25 Zoffany Bulgadin Lady 33/1
4.00 Canford Cliffs Bearwood 28/1
5.10 Lilbourne Lad Clon Rocket 12/1

Redcar
2.10 Zoffany Color Model 16/1, Poet's Voice Ae Fananah 11/2F
3.55 Zoffany Mister Zoff 13/2f & Saxon Gold, 16/1, Lilbourne Lad Planetaria 20/1
4.30 Zoffany Man Of La Mancha 11/1, Poet's Voice Beatbybeatbybeat 5/2jf

Another couple of FSS favourites today, I'd say the best chance for a FSS win may come via Beatbybeatbybeat as 5/2jf for Poet's Voice. I don't think Canford Cliffs will provide another winner today. Best chance for Zoffany may come from the 13/2f Mister Zoff, this will be no walk-over though in a field of 20. Mister Zoff's best form in 4 starts was a 4th place last time out. However, he did miss the break there and had no clear run, too, so this may well prove a form to be sufficient to take this weakish race today even though it's such a big field. Trained by Richard Fahey and starting at odds of 13/2f Mister Zoff looks tempting enough for me.

Enjoy!

Naas 3.25

EAVESDROP is a Galileo half-sister to Kingsgate Native, who is, as you know, a very smart sprinter.

Naas 4.00

ALMANAARA was a close-up seventh on debut at the Curragh and is a Shamardal half-brother to Dark Angel the winner of the 2007 Group 1 Middle Park and has become a successful sire.

A bit short for time today, so just in brief - yesterday a winner each for Lilbourne Lad, Poet's Voice and Roderic O'Connor.

Today there are 11 2-y-o races - Chelmsford (2), Cork (2), Newmarket (3) and Pontefract (4) - today's top5-FSS runners are:

Chelmsford
5.45 Dream Ahead Daydream 14/1
6.15 Dream Ahead Cosmopolitan Girl 13/2

Cork
4.05 Canford Cliffs Great Trango 9/4f, Zoffany Lord Justice 9/1
4.40 Zoffany Dilly Daydream 12/1 & Zig Zag 8/1

Newmarket
2.00 Zoffany Rebel State 66/1
2.35 Lilbourne Lad Southdown Lad 11/1, Poet's Voice Bathos 10/3 & Ronnie Baird 12/1

Pontefract
3.30 Canford Cliffs Poplar Close 20/1, Lilbourne Lad Cotton Camera 16/1
5.10 Lilbourne Lad Calypso Delegator 50/1

Enjoy!

Thanks, Danoli.

No joy with my contribution yesterday, let's try with another couple today.

Newmarket 2.00

MENGLI KHAN (11/1) is a Lope De Vega half-brother to Chrisselliam, winner of the Group 1 Fillies Mile and the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies race.

Pontefract 5.10

TAUTOLOGY (2/1) was green and unruly in the stalls on debut at Haydock when fourth to Dal Harraild and is a full-brother to Hunter's Light, winner of the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes and then going on town Group races in Turkey and Italy before winning races at Meydan.

Cheers gents, I fancy Bathos to win today.

Another interesting one today is at Pontefract for Sir Michael - Yangtze - drifting in the betting and his two main riders at Newmarket and Chelmsford so Tony Hamilton is up on this today. 4th First time out ordinary run but looked like it got the idea in the last two furlongs so no surprise to see the step up. Breeding is Dansili out of Hi Calypso (Group 3 & 2 winner over 14f) so should be a decent horse over further. However this is second foal out of same sire and first one is 0 from 4 as a 3 year old (also with Stoute).

Should be a decent breeding combination but perhaps the reality is it just doesn't work. Prepared to give it a chance each way though at the price it is as find it interesting he has sent it to Ponte on what will probably be a bit of a slog. Maybe will be a late developer, lots of ifs buts and maybe's but worth a dabble in my eyes.

Once again a bit short for time this morning, should get better from this afternoon.

As PTP already mentioned a nice winner for Poet's Voice, when Bathos won his race by 1 3/4 lengths as the 2/1f. This means that the top2-FSS are unchanged at 28 wins each for Canford Cliffs and Zoffany, behind them the next 3 FSS Dream Ahead, Lilbourne Lad and Poet's Voice all sit level on 16 wins..

Outside the Top5-FSS there was a winner each for Frozen Power - now on 7 wins - and Elusive Pimpernel - now on 5 wins.

Today there are 9 2-y-o races - Dundalk (3), Haydock (3), Newmarket (2) and Wolverhampton (1) - today's top5-FSS runners are:

Dundalk
6.05 Zoffany The Yellow Bus 11/4, Lilbourne Lad Clear Spirit 22/1
6.35 Zoffany Well Caught 2/1

Haydock
2.45 Zoffany Silken Skies 5/1

Wolverhampton
8.15 Dream Ahead Dream Dana 8/1 & He's A Dreamer 11/1, Lilbourne Lad Nokhada 3/1f & Lembit And Butler 10/1

On paper this could be a nice day for Zoffany and thus for BennyB - no Canford Cliffs runner today whilst today's 3 Zoffany runners all have decent chances.

This afternoon I'll put together the preview listing for the weekend. Time should no longer be an issue then.

Besides this, am in a good mood, the autumn examination of my Alhaarth mare gave the expected result, so all under way for a February foal by Dabirsim :D

Enjoy!

Part Time Punter, welcome as a regular poster - everybody with interesting posts as yours is warmly welcome here.

Cheers Danoli, Following this thread has really got me into following the two year olds. I always tended to steer clear of the maiden's as felt like it was more guess work than normal and you never knew what most were doing at home.

Regarding Yangtze - there was plenty of money for it in the end - disappointed with the run. Bit bizarre as can't quite get my head around the ride from Hamilton. Was deliberately kept out the back and then asked to catch up and whilst it kept on coming didn't have the pace to catch up. I think another step up needed but clearly doesn't have the change in gear for those sort of tactics. If stepped up again and kept handy I'd fancy it, but I wouldn't be backing it confidently.

Thanks for your efforts gents, I do read with interest.

That's nice to hear, Ptp.

Yesterday - MENGLI KHAN made a nice debut to finish third at 7/1. I thought TAUTOLOGY (evens) looked the winner approaching the final furlong but he folded tamely, too fast a pace perhaps. The winner of the Ponte race, PERCY STREET, benefitted greatly for his debut run and could well follow up this win.

Today
Newmarket 4.15
CRAZY HORSE (8/1), a newcomer, is a half-brother to Richard Pankhurst, the winner of the Listed Chesham Stakes at Ascot last year.
SIRDAAL (25/1), making his debut, is a half-brother to Mawatheeq (RPR 122) second in the 2009 Champion Stakes, and, Ghanaati (RPR 120) winner of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes.

Wolverhampton 8.15
DREAM DANA (20/1), a debutante, is a Dream Ahead half-sister to a number of useful performers, including Yaa Wayl the winner of a Listed 7f. 3-y-o race at York.

On paper this could be a nice day for Zoffany and thus for BennyB - no Canford Cliffs runner today whilst today's 3 Zoffany runners all have decent chances.

First Zoffany win for the day when Silken Skies 5/2 won his race by a short head - Zoffany now back in front 29-28 over Canford Cliffs.

Here's the list of the top5-FSS runners for Saturday and Sunday (apart from the top two 2-y-o races at Newmarket on Saturday the odds are the forecast odds of the Sporting Life racecard by race and thus may not be as accurate as the odds posted in the morning of a raceday):

3.15 Zoffany Dolphin Vista 10/1, Lilbourne Lad Quick N Quirky 14/1

Musselburgh

Further runners for Zoffany and some good chances amongst them - I'd guess beginning of next week Zoffany will lead the FSS table by 2-3 wins.

Enjoy!

Yesterday - CRAZY HORSE just got up on the line to win at 6/1. The other two mentioned Sirdaal(25/1) and Dream Dana (20/1) were never sighted.
