HEROINE HEADS TO LEGER
Ante-post Ladbrokes St Leger mover Unsung Heroine has been confirmed as on target for the race by connections.
Fozzy Stack, trainer Tommy's son and assistant, has assured punters that the Doncaster Classic is now the primary target for the filly after the Park Hill had been mooted as an alternative.
The daughter of High Chaparral is unbeaten in two starts, winning a Group Three race on her last effort, and is as low as 10-1 for the final Classic of the season.
"If everything goes according to plan she'll run in the Leger," said Stack.
"We were talking about the idea of the Park Hill but after Patkai got beaten (in the Great Voltigeur) and with her form working out - she only gets one crack at the Leger and she can run in the Park Hill next year.
"She had a bit of bad luck in the spring when she stood on a hind joint and it was quite messy, she had to spend a couple of weeks at the veterinary clinic to get her sorted out which is why she missed the spring.
"We were lucky to get her back in and she's done nothing wrong, we always thought a lot of her.
"We entered her for the Irish Oaks, but she missed that, thankfully we entered her for the Leger before she ran.
"There is no reason why she shouldn't improve with time, she's quite a big filly but she's quite a good looking filly.
"Her form is very good, even in her maiden she beat a well-bred filly of Jim Bolger's who went on to win by 11 lengths at Gowran.
"So her form looks solid, Hasanka (second to her last time) bolted up at the weekend but to have a chance in the Leger she'd probably have to improve again," he told At The Races.
