Does Goldikova come to hand this early?
Paco Boy is a genuine Group 1 miler, no doubt. But Goldikova and Rip Van Winkle are among the best milers from the last 25 years. If you can't use words to differentiate between them, try ratings. Take your pick whose you choose, but they all agree that Paco Boy's achievements so far don't compare with those of Rip Van Winkle and Goldikova, no matter how good Paco Boy looks when Hughes sits there with his arse in the air just nudging him clear.
But I agree DJ, if they all run to their best, third is the very best Paco Boy can hope for.
If not, she'll be pretty good in the autumn judged by her reappearance win.
I don't think Goldikova was that under par she is just a much better miler - 10f horse than over 7f where she had to use far too much of her energy to get a good position early from a bad draw .
I wouldn't look past GOLDIKOVA, RVW, and ZACINTO for a place. Which probably means that CAT JUNIOR will spoil the party!
As I've said before, I'm not convinced the real champions can show their highest level of firm first time up. The higher they're rated above 126 the more difficult it seems to do. It's as if that level is just physically not possible without a proper race to bring them that peak. I'd like to think I'm wrong.
