The Road to the 2012 2000 Guineas

Very good chance then that they will gravitate towards the stands side which will negate Reet's pace angle.

If you lay off, you're not maximising you returns when you get it right. Saying that you should lay it off when it is 'value' to do so is a comfort blanket for people without a set of balls.

The point is that the 2 horses most likely to lead are drawn in the 2 stalls nearest the far side, and are highly unlikely to head for the stands rail.
Whether they go far side or middle (assuming they do lead), the winner is almost certain to come from the phalanx of horses that follow them.

A horse walks into a bar on the Rowley Mile course with a bandage round his head...[/I]

Barman asks him if he would like a drink

"No thanks" the horse replied "I am just here for the Guineas"

:) Splendid!

or:
He orders a glass of champagne, a vintage brandy and two pints of Guinness.

He downs the lot and says to the barman: “I shouldn’t really be drinking this with what I’ve got?”

Barman: “Why, what have you got?”

Horse: “About £2.50 and a carrot.”

Boom, booom!

Power has Group 1 form on soft ground.

He has arguably the best jockey.

He is a good price.

A couple of his wins have shown him to have an aptitude for a battle.

I believe he has very good speed figures from last year.

He reminds me of Rock of Gibraltar coming into this race.

He certainly seems to be the talking horse of Tipperary currently!

Power was punted substantially on his 2yo debut in the Curragh last year and landed the spoils...obviously they knew what they had on their hands. Footstepsinthesand was a huge punt on his debut in Naas for his first 2yo start.

I know Footsteps went on to have only the one further run, as apposed to Power's stellar 2yo season, but can we draw conclusions that they know when they have a real genuine Classics horse on their hands??

Camelot also has his obvious credentials but I was told by someone pretty high in the Coolmore org that the Derby was his objective..also don't like connections questioning the ground for him.

To summarise, I think Power may go off 5/6's tomorrow so will b getting on EW in a big way.

Most certainly not! The fact he was almost over raced as a 2yo said it all about him in that regard. His form in Ireland is not spectacular and he also ties into that toxic Dewhurst. He won't be in the first 6 tomorrow.

Very bold indeed - Don't forget Henrythenavigator - Power's profile is very very similar and he went off at 11's and the reason for that was because he was beaten on unsuitable ground.

Power could easily have gone last season unbeaten with a bit more luck and would probably be much much shorter. The way he was campaigned suggests they thought he was their guineas horse early in the year.

I've covered my @rse on Power. He makes me nervous.

I gave him a chance of finishing sixth, but as Parish Hall isn't running now maybe he can be fifth. I don't fancy him to do much better than that though.

His form in Ireland revolves around beating Tough As Nails, Dragon Pulse, David Livingstone and Furner's Green. Don't forget La Collina beat him the only time he ran where the word yielding was mentioned in the going.

In his Coventy win at Royal Ascot the next ten horses home have managed to win a class 5 maiden in Leicester, a class 5 maiden in Wolverhampton and a Group 2 in Goodwood. I must quickly add that the Group 2 was won by the 10th horse home, Richard Hannon's Chandlery.

The Dewhurst has been much discussed but I remain on the side that says the form of the race amounts to nothing and the fact the winner does not run and that Most Improved was well backed to reverse the form says it all.

Now tell me again why Power is value?

His two-year-old form is solid and he is certainly entitled to line up, but he wouldn't be on my mind for anything other than a place bet, at most. I'd be disappointed if he was good enough to win.

Take a look at what Camelot beat on his debut and in the Racing Post...not much imo.

Anyone who has looked at a horse in action will tell you Camelot can escape from a chained up bag and beat Power. Past form doesn't win a Guineas, ability does.

Form is all well and good up to a point when there is nothing else to go on, but when you see the X factor, back it.
