The Road to the 2012 King George

Creditable performance IMO,he's a plodder for me,simply out stays them i.e supreme.Always susceptible to pace though.Thats why I will be backing against him at Kempton. He has more chance in the Gold cup though IMO,saying that I expect flemenstar, sir des champs and a couple of others to come home in front of him.

Indeed. I wanted him as cover for Al Ferof but wasn't stepping in until ground conditions were known. It's a hella strong market though so he won't be too short.

Can you imagine what price Flemenstar would be for the Gold Cup if he gave SDC a kicking and then that horse won the King George.

Flem will be out in Leopardstown himself over Christmas. If he wins Sunday and then follows up over 3miles at Leopardstown he will be plenty short

The initial evens was a bit skinny for Sunday, Laddys have him odds on.

I suppose that would depend on how he got on in the Lexus. It's not beyond the realms that Flemenstar is a non-stayer at the Gold Cup trip. He's very good over 2m and will probably prove equally so at 2m4f.....but 3m2f? I'm not so sure.

I'm by no means writing him off as a Gold Cup candidate - far from it - but I think the jury is pretty-much out on him until Leopardstown, regardless of what happen in the Durkan.

Would be genuinely surprised if Flemenstar isn't as good at 3m+ as he is at shorter. No reason at all judged by his running style and pedigree not to prove fully effective as a stayer I'd say.

Riverside Theatre & Cue Card - 2 singles and a r/f/c - these two will finish 1st & 2nd not sure in which order - Grand Crus could be interesting if recovering from wind op - Cue Card will stay.

This is a fascinating race on paper. I Can't see it happening with the the way the weather has been but it would be great if the ground came up good on the day. That would enhance the spectacle of the race because it would give the likes of Sizing Europe, Cue Card & Finian's Rainbow every chance of staying the trip and running big races.

I do fancy Cue Card. Obviously stamina is the issue but it wouldn't be the first time an Arkle runner up has stepped up successfully to 3m. Kicking King did it back in 2004 and his stamina was questioned before the race if I remember correctly.

im sticking firmly with Finians Rainbow, his price has doubled becasue he didnt go on the heavy ground. only one thing to do, top up!
I'd tread carefully with Finian's Rainbow Nicky is not convinced that running him over 3 miles is the right thing to do and has indicated he'll drop back in trip and go to Ascot.

Finian's Rainbow's main target now looks like being the Ryanair this time round if the ground is good to soft or better with another crack at the QMCC if anything should go amiss with Sprinter Sacre.

Riverside Theatre very weak on Betfair at the moment as well.

Nice form boost for Al Ferof yesterday, but I know he's good enough to win this race if he acts at Kempton as well as he does at Cheltenham.

Must have been short lived he's 1 point longer than the bookies which is strong where Betfair is concerned about a 7/1 shot listed 4th in the betting.

If Al Ferof is good enough to win a King George he's hiding it well.

So far over fences he's beaten Astracad when he wasn't fully fit, Scraped home by the skin of his teeth against For Non Stop, was beaten easily by Somersby who finsihed nearly 20 lengths behind Long Run in this last season, finished 32 lengths behind Sprinter Sacre and has his ass kicked by Menorah. He's come back and won the Paddy Power in awful conditions by 3 lengths from a horse who has forgotten how to win a race and you think you know he's good enough to beat a horse rated 19lbs ahead of him???? and 11 others who are rated higher than he is.

I wish you luck but it wouldn't be me. as I really dislike the horse. He gets caught flat footed too often for my liking and that's a huge no no in a King George.

Don't know Granger he's failed twice to get the trip and they weren't exactly going hell for leather in those races.

The King George takes some getting despite Kempton being an easier track as the pace can be pretty hectic.

If Al Ferof doesn't make the running I suspect Long Run will to make it a true test of stamina and that would not suit Sizing Europe

If not taking in the KG (Reasons for and against) his early season could have been planned out better. JD chase or Tingle Creek could have been taken in. The 2mile at Leopardstown won't take much winning

I love sizing I'm quite happy for him to stick to two miles, he's a specialist over that trip now. I wouldn't want to see him broken in the event he didn't get home at Kempton. Yeah he would have his work cut out to get near Sprinter Sacre but I'd still like to see him try anyway. He deserves a crack at Sprinter. If Henry had him primed for the KG I honestly can't see how he could drop to two miles and run any sort of race in the Champion Chase. Makes me all the more keen on Long Run. Will have an e/w on The Giant Bolster if he lines up.

He ran a **** of a lot better than Long Run did in his Paddy Power. His Novice chase form is irrelevant because he never got the test he appreciated - a big field and a decent pace. End of.
